honestly, prepping in fun pasttime up until it becomes a liability,
if the brown stuff hits the fan, people will be desperate, and will kill each other for a can of peaches
at least initially,
blood will run in the streets quite freely, and majority of us that live sheltered lives will die
just a fact,
same as if all Humans disappeared, all the poodles and sausage dogs will die first, again they wont have the strength and stamina to survive as compared to a German Shepard or rottweiler
same too with majority of people, we become very soft and not used to eating out of dumpsters and fighting tooth and nail for every little thing,
just a fact, human population, at least initially will thin out,
preppers, while initially will be quite comfortable, will start suffering next, mainly due to people knowing they have resources and supplies that others will take,
Raiders will come, and while the first few will be shot , they will keep coming and in larger numbers and with more weapons and more organized,
the preppers, will eventually run out of bullets, and unless they have a way to make more, or are able to trade commodities to get more, will find themselves outgunned, especially if people know they have resources and food,
so unless the preppers are extremely well hidden and well supplied with ammo, and supplies to last a good while, and have a way to replenish stocks, and can build on that momentum, might survive the initial onslaught
then it becomes a marathon and not a sprint, on how they survive next,
do they have enough skilled people to maintain the defenses? Guns/Walls/traps ect, do they have enough people to sustain a community? will they die from old age, diseases or a coup from within? do they have a way to grow and take in survivors to bolster skills they dont have?
so many questions and lots of chance involved if they survive in the long term.
