The Proteas - Our Team!

Vuma Proteas? More like Vuma Chokers.

And DHL Cape Town Stadium

I honestly dont get it. You never hear of the English or American teams changing their names after their sponsors. I
So Manchester United or Glazers United?
Newcastle or NewSaudiArabia?

But in SA we keep name changing each time we get a sponsor.

I am going to say one thing, SA has no pride in the names of their teams, or really anything for that matter. No wonder we keep changing place names so often

The stadium naming thing is hardly unique to SA.
Allianz has naming rights to both bayern munchen and juve's stadium's.
Also arsenal's stadium is named after emirates.
Man city's stadium official name is etihad stadium.

All new stadiums that are build get sponsored named. Its only the ones established before the practice of naming rights that aren't named.

NRR is way too impactful after just 5 games. I like the round-robin idea that 2019 world cup used. Also means more games for the qualified teams.

@RunningFromFat this system is BS in my opinion. Everyone must play everyone, then playoffs, QF if you want, then SF and final.

Round-robin is going to be increasingly unlikely in the T20 World Cup since the ICC is using this format to increase the number of teams (twenty teams in future):

Although perhaps they’re still going to have a two-phase schedule: that is gruelling for the teams that play phase 1 and phase 2.

I'd be pretty happy for the T20 World Cup to be structured like a soccer World Cup with groups of four, then QFs. More countries, more entertainment and the sport grows.

The ODI World Cup and especially Champion's Trophy can be where the big boys slug it out.

Even this was a better alternative than the current system. There was 16 teams so would have been easy. No 'group stage' and 'super 12'.

Makes sense to me also.

Don't know what the real motivation for the two-phase world cup is: easier to schedule without stealing the big players from IPL and other leagues (they only have to be available for the final phase)? Or is the ICC just afraid that small teams won’t pull a lot of interest?

I think it's mostly financial reasons you don't see more of the associate nations playing cricket. Like perhaps it's not financially viable to tour these small nations.

If teams tour zim or us, they should bring back triangular series and involve Namibia. Same would go for eng/ire/scot for example.

The reason why ICC won't go the football way all goes back to the 2007 wc.
Non test playing nations at that stage Bangladesh and Ireland knocked out India and Pakistan in the group stage.
ICC were extremely upset at this as it cost them loads of tv money.
They won't go back to that format if anything they will make one big group stage so India can play more games.

ICC doesn't care what is best for the game, they care for $$$. That means keeping India in the tournament as long as possible.
