The Proteas - Our Team!

Maybe said captain should have thought about his other 14 squad members and support staff before making himself a target. Was totally avoidable.

Let's see. He should have thought I am captain of SA, I need to think whether what I say here will impact my team mates. As captain one at times need to bite your tongue.

No a SA captain choosing that his own personal beliefs is above the team as they prepare for the WC is the issue.

Not heard anyone ever say anything negative about the lad till his speech.
It certainly appears that you are very anti freedom of speech? I feel CSA is very wrong here. They are utterly spineless.

Because the only people who have anything bad to say are the BDS/PSA thought police. Why haven't CA turned their back on Kuwaja?
They haven't exactly back Usman either. There has been no attempt from CA to assist him regarding his appeal.

The issue isn't free speech. He can say what he wants but needs to live with the consequences. The issue is his speech didn't just impact himself. As captain what he says impacts the entire team. The rest of the squad were impacted because he put his views above what is best for the team.

Rest of the squad impacted - oof!

They lose a irreplaceable captain and player - they are screwed - piss poor team.

I hope you understand at least at a rudimentary level that the problem doesn't lie with him

I might not have all the info here. Was he speaking officially as captain or at a CSA event? If not then I'm afraid your argument holds no water. If he was then he is in the wrong.

A Jewish, boy, at a Jewish Function - no CSA, or "official" capacity.

He was speaking at a private function where he was honoured by the Jewish community

So wokish cancel culture sinks our fantastic cricket administrators! Yep, definitely spineless.

Let's be clear, an independent judicial enquiry found that the kid had done nothing wrong.

And pray tell, where does the PSA fit in, in Cricket or SA sport? That they prescribe what is, or is not right or good for SA Cricket?
They don't. Or at least, they shouldn't. However it's clear they have quite a bit of leverage within CSA.

Public Servants Association, or another bunch of idiots, that share the same initials?

Edit: Ah, I see, Palestine Solidarity Association - now I understand poor @sefan9"s political posturing.

Yes and no. In an ideal world it shouldn't be a problem. But he should be aware of the sensitivity of the issue and not put an unnecessary target on his back and with it on his team mates. Why should his team mates be put under extra pressure because of his politics?

You never stop being captain of a national team. You need to be aware everything you say and do will be scrutinized.
