You know I don't have much faith in our ODI team. the batsman just don't do it for me :/

the likes of Faf, Ingrim, Behardien etc just don't fill me with confidence.

The problem is these guys have been doing well in domestic ODI's but they haven't made the step up.

This has always been my feeling regarding SA be it 20/20, ODI or even test cricket.
I wish there was a period of our cricket where we could look as unstoppable as the 2000 Australian team.
This one match up one match down nonsense is very testing on my national pride.

nah, we are ace in tests. I would bank on us every time.

ODI and T20, not so much.

The days we had a Lance Klusener, Shaun Pollock, Boucher and even Gibbs we had a good ODI team, even a guy like Gary Kirsten who could stand in a test and block 300 balls, when it came to ODI's he fired and where consistent.
Our current ODI team is just to inconsistent, if Smith or AB fails the whole battling lineup collapses. Mark Boucher looked better than Ingram, Miller and Faf who is supposed to be our middle-top order.
If it was not for our bowling, we truly would have been no where in ODI's.

Basically we have AB and Amla, and once in a very blue moon Smith.
Which other batsman can we say really deserves his place?, JP perhaps, little inconsistent, luckily hes a all-rounder, Kallis who never plays?
The only 2 batsman we really have who stands out in ODI's are AB and Amla.

Berhardien is about to score a ton for the Titans, against the Lions. He's on 96 from 85 balls...

EDIT: Berhadien finishes on 113 from 93 balls in taking the Titans to 302/6 from their 50 overs.

And I ask again.... why are they forcing Ingram to open the batting?

It is a slap in the face for all the other talented opening batsmen in South Africa and it will harm his own career.
 
If they needed a makeshift opener they should have given Parnell a chance..recent 100 whilst opening batting for franchise.. could be fun... license to attack...;)

Selectors just don't have the balls...they have been consistently fscking up the ODI team both T20 and 50 over inclusive .
 
Our batsman are just incapable of staying at the crease over a prolonged period in ODI's. Our middle order is very brittle and no one ( Not even AB) fills me with confidence when they walk out to the crease. You almost expect them to get out quickly. Whether that is a temperament issue, or batsman lacking quality, i'm not sure but it needs to be addressed or we will continue our decline in ODI's.
 
Look at it this way.

Next world cup we will be complete underdogs so no chance of choking so no pressure, so we could do well :D

We haven't been favorites to win a WC in since '03. Australia 2007 were favorites and '11 was India.

We might do well though considering that the WC is in Australia. ( more suited to pace bowling as opposed to spin).
