I like a panel: coach, captain and an external selector (or even two). External guy(s) spends his time watching and tracking domestic cricket, something captain and coach don't have capacity to focus on. External guys are also less emotionally invested in individuals so easier to ask questions and make the "hard" calls

I prefer one guy to have responsibility. When there is a panel who is to blame when things go wrong the head coach or the guys who picked the team.
