the ps3 lan cable thats in the box

dolby yes i checked your pic and yes its the same error plus there is no recieving packets back to the ps3,damn this is frustrating...i mean there are many network fundies on this site and there is no one to help me...
Its not that the fundies have to know the ps3 but just the network setup thats it

well iam gonna fix the cable i cut back together and start over again, its gonna be hell but yeah...LIBZ if you can hear me please help me out,the client is gonna think i am a stupid

Cool ... !

Now with this error one must be connected, surely? I mean I got this error, assumed it didn't work & started playing a game. When I shut down the PC 30 minutes later, a got a message interupting the game telling 'AP disconnected'. From this I assume it was connected!

However I can't do anything ...

Did you run the network wizard selecting the option that other computers connect through your pc to access the internet? The ps3 is connected to your pc and is configured to use the pc as a router/ap, however the pc is not telling the ps3 how to get to the internet.

OK - I don't have a PS3 to play with, so these are all assumptions:

Most modern routers and switches are capable of auto-sensing whether the connection is crossed or not. I have no idea if the NICs are capable of this though. Either way, lets assume that it's fine, and your wiring is correct.

Your PS3 needs to be assigned an IP address from somewhere. Usually the router will run a DHCP which assigns your PS3 an IP, and tells it that the router is its gateway.

Since you are bypassing this step, you'll need ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or something similar enabled on your PC, so that the PC assigns an IP to the PS3, and also acts as a gateway.

Ok...I finally gave up today with the ethernet connection to the pc...
I have resorted to getting a wireless modem with a AP.....this is so much simpler and easy...

But i would like to know why i just could not recieve packets back to the ps3 but with a old telkom router which i tried i could send and recieve packets
I think that there is a problem with the cable...I am happy to announce that there is internet connection passed with the wireless router, but this is not really what i wanted to do..

GUys and gls,if you have solutions to this whole pc---ps3 thing i will be greatfull
