Is this cable already crossed and can i use this cable direct into my pc lan adapter which has a internet connection.Or do i change the cable to a crossed erthenet cable..please advice as i am busy with trying to connect to the internet with the ps3.

I alreeady cut the wires and made it a crossed cable,i am just worried that it already was and this is a problem and that is why i dont recieve packets:o

lol if the PS3 is anything like the 360 it crosses the cable automatically... so you may have wasted your time :D

ha ha ha... I'm using my ps3 network cable for my pc to adsl router :p... It works perfectly :D for both, pc to pc and pc to hub, I dont know y though...

But the reason why I'm using it on my pc, is because Sony has used a lil invention called WIFI (me just kidding gavin and other xboxers)

you know some ppl said on this forum that i had to cross it,noe you tell me that it was a crossed cable, now how will i know...So i can swap the wires back again

You should always ask questions BEFORE you do the cutting. Not after.

white green, green, white orange, blue, white blue, orange, white brown, brown :) same on both ends = standard straight CAT5 :)

quicksilver,i am very good in what i do,but the ps3 is a problem...2 days trying to connect it ti the 3g network is not a joke..so please

To connect two PCs directly together without a switch, an Ethernet crossover cable is often used. Although many modern Ethernet host adapters can automatically detect another PC connected with a straight-through cable and then automatically introduce the required crossover, if needed; if one or neither of the PC does not, then a crossover cable is required. If both devices being connected support 1000BASE-T according to the standards, they will connect regardless of the cable being used or how it is wired.

I would think that a PS3 will have a modern ethernet host adapter?

we are talking of a cable not an adapter,i know all this already.
Is the cable that come with the ps3 a cross over cable already

The cable doesn't matter. The adaptor should swap it for you. Cross over cables are generally no longer required with modern network cards.

The answer is that no one else has manualy changed the network cable and cannot tell you for sure, but since most people just plug and play I am presuming you did something wrong.

I know but the ps3 is new but the pc's adapter might be a old ethernet adapter not capble of swapping the wires around..how can i be sure...
Let me swapp thos wires around again to its original standard, maybe this will fix the non recieving packets.,

I know the ps3 will swapp it around on its side but the pc might not recognise the date..or what ..i am jst fishing here so please correct me

Think about how you turn a normal cable into a crossover... just change one side..

So even if your PC doesn't swap the PS3 will and that is all you need
