I was told by the cell c rep on this forum that if you do not rica and only rica it when you are ready to start using it one will not lose any data. ie buy now rica later and it will only start counting down the 12 months from when it is rica'ed

Aaaw crap! They ricad it in store for me! CellC rep if you read this can you confirm this please? Also how would go about finding out when the overall data package expires on a sim?

If you have the latest software on your PC/Modem ie Cell C Connector and you click the account tab, there is a button that says customer information, this gives you your expiry date

If you pm the cellc rep with the cell number and your other rica details he will confirm for you when the 12 months expires.

I called the cell c store today and he had no idea about the prices increasing, he said prepaid prices would remain the same indefinitely. Only acknowledged that the contract prices would increase. He even mention that this was confirmed by the regional guys that informed the store...*thinking face

Good day daiyaan

I think you was mistaken for the standard recharge vouchers.
As the increases will affect the 24 / 60 GB data packages.
That is why they are ending.
The 10 / 20 GB per month.
Will be out for a while.

I tried this, it doesn't give me the expiry date, just some other general info.

Pity, I guess that I will just have to contact Cell C.

OK, have tested it - activation definitely takes place when SIM is RICAed, and NOT when first used !

Bit of a bummer for me, means that I have lost a lot of airtime on one of my bundles.

Try to get the shop not to RICA your SIM if you want a delayed activation - but I don't know how long you can postpone this !

Hi

You can keep it for one year before activating it.
Once you do will start the monthly cycle as normal.

You better tell your staff at the stores this, because they say otherwise. I tried this morning and they said that they have to RICA it instore straight away!!!

Had no problems at the KC CellC store. Current SIM expires end Nov. Was able to buy just SIM without having to RICA it in store. Will do so, once current SIM expires to max benefit :)

Just got back from Cell-C at Rosebank Mall . They still have stock of the 5Gb/m SIM-only packages. If you want 2Gb you'll have to take it with the modem.
