Just my opinion, but I do not think a single cent of that R10.5bn will go towards the operations of SAA or getting it back in the air. I have a small suspicion that the R10.5bn is going directly to banks and bigger lenders in order to prevent them from triggering the cross default clause in their agreements and also to prevent a major banking collapse in SA. Over and above this, all of SAA's newer aircraft have been repossessed last year and is no longer with the SAA anymore.

That being said, if this is the case, it is money well spent to get rid of the debt. Hopefully after the debt is settled the SAA dream will be over and the whole institution closed down. We do not need a national airline. There is more than enough foreign airlines who already could operate locally and take over from the SAA.

Ultimately we actually don't get a say about how they should spend the money. They may as well give it to the Guptas for all the good it will do the average South African.

oh yummy my hobby horse. It is a disgrace an absolute disgrace that the so called "gov. for the rainbow nation" could even discuss throwing that money away on a dead duck called SAA, because that is exactly what will happen. Who needs an airline when in lockdown anyway, plus there are many countries that dont want or need the SA Tourist. So their point is what....VANITY, and cheap flights for the "boys" Do they not remember the people that stood in the rain or heat on empty stomachs, that walked kilometres & kilometres to put their cross against ANC? No but they will next time voting comes around.

There is another idiot heading to SAA with criminal intent, and no fancy german car, korean cellphone or big house, and we all know, the ANC first looks after the criminals, I mean cadres and then if pressed, they build a R12 million 2mx4m bridge (https://www.limpopomirror.co.za/art...1-29/new-bridge-will-bring-relief-to-mudimeli) in Babetikosweti to show how they are taking care of SA.

It's wiser to boost on vaccine account than the SAA
 
Lets give it to the politicians. Then the money is gone, we know who took what and we save millions on the cost of inquiries that has zero gain, zero results and zero consequences accept that tax payers must front the bill.
