The R110 computer that could change the world

Ah... for those that don't know- MediaTek make pretty awesome crap.. It is cheap as dirt, barely works stuff.
Raspberry Pi Redux.

Us in the industry- we've been having it for decades...
 
What we need is for one of the major motherboard manufacturers, say ASUS or Gigabyte to start producing and distributing arm based boards.

Haha. Can just imagine the conversation
"sir, the satellite cost has gone up to R2,000,100 ... it's over budget, we can't launch"
"Take the Raspberry Pi out, and put in a CHIP. That'll save R100".

The Pi is actually cheaper for the same specs - CHIP has a super low-end no-HDMI version, but once you plop HDMI on, the Pi becomes cheaper and better specced. FAR better specced.

The best thing about the CHIP isn't mentioned in the article - it has what looks like a large blackberry with tactile keyboard, where you plug your CHIP in to and can work on the go. I bet it's a matter of weeks until one comes out for the Pi, I'd buy that!

While a lot of Mediatek stuff makes it into budget stuff its not junk by any means. They also made some good DVD chipsets back in the days.

You wouldn't want to sent either of those processors into space. You need something a little bit more radiation hardened to survive there.

Add power supply, shipping, taxes, monitor and keyboard and it all starts to add up.
 
Rather go for a RockChip or AMLogic based Android Stick or one of these Intel or Lenovo Windows/Linux sticks. This thing is garbage TBH. The Rasberry PI's are better than these but all of my mates who bought PI's found they simply did not have the horsepower for the demands they had for them as they quickly skilled up in using/programming.

But would work in 3x more expensive Android productively?

Compared to a R110 pc with linux
