With 4GB of storage, 512MB and a 1GHz processor, this little guy is about as powerful as most desktop computers were at the turn of the century, but at less than 1% of their cost.

Not quite. A PC is more than a processor and ram. It also has graphics and storage. This doesn't make any mention but I bet that 4GB is flash so not very fast and neither is the ram probably. Clock is also not an indicator of speed. This is probably on the level of a high end 486.

Sure, check it out. Plays 1080p with DD5.1 without issue. I have a Minix Neo X8 and X7 so this unit is unused. Lots of support for it here and here.

An Explosion of devices but Telkom is not supporting IPV6 across ADSL yet. If we get an explosion of internet users, on, (if we are to believe Telkom and Petec), IPV4 will be running out of netblocks fairly soon in Sunny SA.

Looking to take my ADLS Link to IPV6 Native, but ADSL ISP's not supporting it due to Telkom issues.

The Rasberry PI's are better than these but all of my mates who bought PI's found they simply did not have the horsepower for the demands they had for them as they quickly skilled up in using/programming.

I assume they were using the single core Pi's and not the newish Pi 2 B which has a quad core CPU.

No one made a 266Mhz 486. They went up to 133Mhz but I did hear of a 150Mhz but never actually got to see one. 266Mhz is Pentium territory.

I like the fact that it comes with 4gb of storage built in - would be nice if the Pi did the same - but then again that would increase the price.

My Pi 2 b is an awesome little thing - runs circles around the original Pi that I have.
