Now the R300, taking off ramp from N2 onto the R300. I have been doing this every weekday since February and now I ask what the hell are they doing?

Are they planning to build a third lane? All they are doing at the moment is causing huge amounts of traffic:mad:

I heard they might be extending the R300 to run PAST the N1 and towards the N7/N5... I think they shouldnt bother with a 3rd lane and just fix the 2 that already looks like crap...

Remember they were building some pedestrian bridges over the R300 last year, what a mess aswell...

The bridges actually look pretty decent now, except no one uses them. I agree just fix the 2 lanes that already exist.

Was wondering about that too. It's such a mess at the moment because those 2 "lanes" they have manufactured by using the yellow line is so narrow it is a risk every morning. This morning I was in the left "lane" and all of a sudden the car in front came to a standstill while the guys on the right were free flowing. When I got a gap I went into the right and then it turns out a guy in a bakkie just stopped in the left "lane" picking up his workers. I was mad as hell but then where was the guy to pull off when there's no yellow lane anymore?

Aren't the contractors supposed to put up boards informing the public how long they'll be busy for and what they're doing?

Glad to be talking to someone else who is also driving on this route. I know the gap is so narrow that it is going to CAUSE an accident. One is now dodging cars and the stupid little barrier thing.

What scares me, if there is an emergency or even an emergency vehicle how are they going to get passed? I almost had a police van run me down this afternoon:mad:

Surely they should be giving us an indication as to what the hell they are planning to do? The traffic it is causing going towards the N2, forces me now to use the Kuils River route going back home.

I think they created three lanes temporarily, to resurface the road, one lane at a time.

They've been threatening PTA - JHB drivers with a toll gate for years. I won't be surprised once the Gautrain is finished if they were to put the tollgate up.

On the plus side construction means improvement (I hope).
