The radical plan to turn Cell C around

Cell C is planning to move its complete network to MTN and essentially become a high-level mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) as part of its turnaround strategy.

This is the word from Cell C CEO Douglas Craigie Stevenson, who was discussing the company’s plans with the Financial Mail.
 
Is all the increased sms spam with my horoscope and whatsapp statuses, also part of their radical plan?
 
Sucks for us consumers. What happened to those data harvesting Chinese with deep pockets?
 
As the official 3rd official national communications operator CellC has always been in the red.

I really can't recall a time where they weren't in trouble in some way or the other.
They are doomed for failure or being the next eksdom with constant bailouts.

I just don't have any faith in this company and would rather give my money to spermcount on any normal day. That shows my distaste, since spermcount is my last and only resort. The other 2 national operators are too expensive for me.
 
MTN?

Cell C has features like Wifi calling that MTN doesn't offer at the moment - if they do decide to move over hopefully these feature remain.
 
MTN is taking over in South Africa. If they have Cellc spectrum they will probably hold the most spectrum or most valuable spectrum in Band 1 and Band 3 as well as extra 3G spectrum in the 900MHz range.

I can totally see MTN running like 7 or 8 carrier aggregation. Exciting for MTN but dire for Cellc.

I don't think spectrum is transferable in that fashion....

You can also be damned sure that telkom and vodacom will throw hissy fits and swamp the transfer in legal challenges if cellc try to transfer it to mtn.
 
Will this mean I will get MTN quality network at Cell C prices? Can I have my cake, eat it, and go for seconds?
