WAYNE MCCURRIE:"......maybe the biggest single reason, and this is the funny part of it is, the rand was so massively over-sold
that all you’ve got to do is stop hearing bad news for the rand to appreciate. Nothing has actually changed per se other than the
fact that the rand was just too cheap and it can rally. Not because of any specific reason, its own valuation level itself will
cause it to rally". Moneyweb 01 April 2016.

This coupled with the fact that the USD is strongly overbought and has perhaps reached it's peak and headed down from here will see the ZAR in the 13's soon.

So do I win this debate? I will go lower than my previous prediction of 13 that held. The next level is 11. 77. This will be hard to beat. Too strong support here but it may disintegrate with political events and shoot lower.

LOL, something tells me you are a I-told-you-so type of person
No, I just get very irritated with supposed economist making often ridiculous calls and not being taken to task for it.

They actually ignore the economics entirely and fall into the political trap that they construct for themselves. Yes, there are political factors that they are meant to consider as part of a bigger picture which is composed of many factors.

Then the naysaying bitches chirp in, worsening the picture being painted. I guess am just happy that for now, they are wrong.

And yes, I have shed a lot of my dollar resources over the last 2 years....and will be buying them again soon to rebuild what I had as a currency hedge. The ratio I hold at the moment is ZAR:USD:GBP 13:1:2 . It was about 13:6:5 when the Rand got zumatised

then maybe you should focus your efforts on the ratings agencies, since their opinions actually have a real impact on the economy almost immediately

I've been saying this for over a year now. The time for moving money out of the country has long since passed. Now is the time to move it back in again.
