not us.. Its the universities!

I helped my wife install some new video conferencing software that her collaboration at CERN are using for their meetings.

Its incredible though and just sat back and watched 9 of them all talking in high quality video, while being able to bring up data sheets and display them on whiteboards which you can tilt and slide around simular to the movie "Minority Report". All on my 1024k ADSL line.

I was really impressed until I tried to view MyBB and it took 5 min to load the page. I started checking up and realised that everything was loading slowly. So I checked up on the line and found out she was loading data at max speed... up and down  This of course means it will take me about 10 min again after I hit submit and wait for the next screen to load and my bandwidth is disappearing at full tilt!

I would love to know how they get it right.. but I doubt they will share that with us

Port priortiy?
imo experience, the universities speed is slow, but overall it accounts to a huge amount of bandwidth.

Well this wasn't at any varsity in SA.. She was using my home line to connect to the guys in the USA and Switzerland. Most of them were all on cable modems or running through their university labs at 12000 kbps. Wits is too slow to even try use the system which is why she came home to do it

But Port priority it would be, I had to open up a whole load of new ports on my firewall before she could connect and she chewed through 450 megs in the time she was talking to them.. Guess I have to top up again tomorrow
