The updated Kwid is available in seven variants.
Renault has launched the 2024 Kwid in India. The updated Kwid is available in seven variants, priced from Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom).Renault has made a few changes to the feature list and introduced new dual-tone colours. The mid-spec RXL (O) variant now gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also available with an automated manual transmission (AMT).
The Kwid is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 67 BHP and 91 Nm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

Renault Kwid won’t get a new generation, but Kiger and Triber to be renewed
The Renault Kwid, Kiger and Triber have been instrumental in the brand’s success on the South African market.
Built in India for emerging markets, the trio might not offer the kind of refinements you’d expect from Renault’s French-built products but they do provide South Africans with much needed mobility at a lower price point amid today’s crippling living costs.
While announcing minor revisions for the three products in India this week, the Indian division revealed its product plans for the next three years, and they include new-generation versions of the Kiger compact SUV and Triber MPV.
The plan also entails a new “B+” SUV, which may or may not be based on the third-generation Duster, as well as a C-segment SUV and a “localised” electric vehicle.
However there was no mention of a new-generation Kwid and given that the current version was launched abroad in 2015, a new version is starting to seem overdue.
But a new Kwid is not on the cards for now as Renault India CEO Venkatram Mamillapalle revealed to Autocar India during an interview at the event.
“It doesn’t mean we won’t do it, but as of now we have no plans of bringing in the new gen of the model (Kwid). We will keep it alive as long as regulations allow because if you see, regulations define what stays at what cost points.”

Renault SA should be retailing this 'Made in India' sh!tbox for at least HALF of what they are currently ripping you off for it on the showroom floor... with FREE insurance for the FULL duration of the finance deal... a 3 year / 45,000km service plan and NO balloon payment option...

My old man's Gen 1 Duster is in the shops for a sensor (on backorder), he is currently running around in this new (5000km on the odo) Kwid Climber rental.
He picked me up earlier to attend a function, shew. I'm being as diplomatic as possible here: It's a really really bad, the hard plastics everywhere I can take for the price point BUT the loud engine on pull away, the vibrations coming through the cabin. The NVH must be the worse of any new car on sale in SA. It sounds almost like it's powered by a lawnmower engine & is just as slow.

Renault South Africa has repositioned its Kwid lineup, with the French firm’s local arm handing the budget-oriented compact hatchback a price reduction.
Introduced to South Africa in 2016, Renault SA says over 70 000 units of the Kwid has been sold in our market to date. Now, in a bid to offer customers even fore bang for their buck, the French firm has repositioned the model lineup, and along with the latter, the automaker has strengthened this compact hatchback’s budget-oriented proviso with new retail pricing.

Previously priced from R196 999, as per CARguide in the October 2025 issue of CAR Magazine, the model range now kicks off at R178 799, making the entry-level, Evolution (formerly Life) variant the most affordable passenger car in SA…by R1 (the base-spec Toyota Vitz costs R178 800).

For first-time and budget-conscious buyers, the Renault Kwid has been a staple of the industry since its introduction in 2016, borne out by the 70 000 units that have been sold since then.
As part of its tenth anniversary, Renault has repositioned the little entry-level car and made it the most affordable vehicle currently available at R178,799, which includes one-year comprehensive insurance.
New naming convention
In alignment with Renault’s new nomenclature, the range also introduces a new naming convention on two of the three variants.
The entry trim level, previously known as Life, is now called Evolution and the middle spec, formerly Zen, becomes the Techno, while the range-topping Climber is retained.
In November this year, new updates will be introduced to the Evolution and Climber that include an 8-inch touchscreen in the Evolution model and six airbags in the Climber version.
