Starting 1, 2, 3, 6 and 16 were woeful, 8 forgettable. Papier showed good form and the rest were 6/10 and 7/10. Not a good B/C team.

In the pack I would say the only genuine starter is PDST. In the backs I would say only Kriel and Willemse are 1st team genuine starters. Nortje is a maybe.

If you want to call 3 A team players a sprinkling ok. Many of these players and certainly many on the bench would not make a 32 man World Cup squad. Players like Porthen, who I like, is probably 5th or 6th best tighthead in SA, at best. He is a project player with a lot of potential but there are experienced and atm better players ahead of him. Rassie mentioned during the week that 8 locks is missing.

Let’s just agree to disagree. There is a significant amount of players out and not just 1st choice players, genuinely world class players who most would walk into a world 15.

Apart from the scoreline, this is the most important stat of the weekend: The average caps per player in the backline was 37, the forwards 21, while the players on the bench averaged 9.

This includes Jessie (88), Pollard (85) and Willemse (50) among the backs leaving an average of 9 for the other 4. Similarly, if you remove PSDT (96) the rest of the starting pack average 11.

And they beat the no5 ranked team in the world.

As mentioned, 3 definitely start, another 2 or 3 with a look in or on the bench?

And the rest? Are they not youngsters knocking at the door or stating a case for inclusion now or in a year or two? Kind of like a B team?
