Didn't the coaches see his heavily bandaged knee during training?

I saw it and wondered if they would select him for the test.

I'm not getting the Salmaan hate/doubt

From the 23, there are at least 3 other captain candidates (Eben, Am, Pollard) and Rassie chose this guy...

he is very highly rated, not only as a lock but he has captaincy credentials since age groups. He could very well be the captain of the 2027 WC team...

get on board guys

What reason is there to doubt this selection ?

I think Wayde should present workshops to up and coming athletes about the importance of taking care of your niggles

You'd think that would be part and parcel in this day and age. Can only help future Boks be greater.

Bandaged appendages are part and parcel of a players pre training routine and preparation. Not unusual. Sasha probably had a physio bandage it up and probably purposely down played the extent of the injury. Maybe he thought he could run it off? These guys seldom take the field 100% niggle free. It's a brutal sport. They all, almost always, are carrying niggles or general soreness.

I like that it starts at 4 as well - weather is looking chilly billys.
Every time I look at my phone's weather app the weather for Saturday gets worse! :)
But I actually don't mind watching sports in the rain, adds to the occasion a bit.

He's weak in the carry, which is a part of the game most people notice. But Rassie said it best, he said his work in the tight is sound, strong defender, strong defender of the maul, high work rate, natural leader with a calm demeanor.

Who we to 2nd guess Rassie and every other coach that selected Moerat throughout his career? his craven week and national selection through the age groups speaks volumes.

He does seem a little injury prone though. That's a worry. Many a promising career has been cut short by injury. An aspect of the sport I absolutely detest (with every inch of my being)!!

I love that it's going to be cold!! The Scot in me simply doesn't enjoy heat!! Also I'm about 30kg over my fighting weight, so that doesn't help. It's the wet that doesn't excite me at all!! I'm hoping for nothing more than early morning/afternoon drizzle.

Wet weather rugby is crap too! Makes for a scrappy, stop/start affair... anyway....

There is actually so much televised rugby on Saturday, I actually should have given going to the Park a miss...

He has yet to prove to be anything but just another journeyman imo. His line outs are sketchy as well as being weak in the carry. Doesn't stand above like a lot of other players in the position over the years.

I don't hate the dude. He tends to fade in games. Yes, does the basics but does not stand out like an Eben/Mostert or RG. But, yes, who am I to judge Rassie? Hope he does well in the game.

There wont be anywhere for him to hide come Saturday. The Argies are up for it, I'm sure.

I'm expecting an attritional test match. Playing in a 30 000 seater football stadium in a rural part of Argentina, 100km out from Tucuman, hard field, hostile crowd, 30C+, Rugby Championship title on the line, Argentina on a high after NZ win and Aussie record thrashing, up against arguably the best Bok side in history... man oh man, it has all the makings of an epic test match

A lot will depend which Argie side turns up. If they bring their A game it could be another 1 score game. Boks by 15 if they come with their B game...

So exciting!!

So much rugby on this weekend, URC, Gallagher Premiership, Top 14, Pacific Nations cup, Rugby Champs, Currie Cup final, women against Spain tomorrow... I just want to stay home on Saturday and vegetate in front of the tv...

Agreed, should be an epic test match. Hope it doesn't become like the Battle of Tucuman like that game in 1993. Though teams are more professional now.

It will be good to see "Am" in the inside center position! Was thinking Rassie would select Libbok at 10 Pollard at 12 and Am at 13 with Kriel on the bench , we need to blood more centers in the November tests Maybe bring in Hooker and Henco Van Wyk!

Also looking out for the next Kwagga could it be Sibabalwe Mahashe from the U20's?? thoughts

I've only seen very little of him but I do like his style of play. I would have to see a lot more of him to have a valid opinion but the promise is there, especially if he's managed well
