What a pity I missed the 2nd test between Australia and the Lions. Looked like a humdinger. Suddenly I don't feel so comfortable with them against the Boks.
Currie Cup - Well done to the Lions putting the Sharks to the sword. Although, I must admit, there was only a player here and there that I knew in that Sharks team.
Pity I also missed the Boland and Free State game.

It was a fantastic test match! Aussie were very good but Lions, I felt, were a bit flat footed and casual at the start. I still think we will pump Australia in SA. They don't travel well to the republic. Ellis Park and then CT 16th and 23rd, tough places to win. Yes, we shouldn't underestimate them. Yes, they likely to be better prepared coming of a test series against a side as good as the Lions where we used Baabaa's, Italy and Georgia as an opportunity to experiment.

Currie Cup was interesting. Bpland knocking over Cheetahs was a bit of an upset. Lions incredibly hard to beat at Ellis Park, Province sent lambs for a mauling, Stonehouse's Pumas are always up for the CC, a comp they looking to dominate, they only comp they compete in.
 
I dialled in to watch the game from time to time as I took care of my daughter but I happened to dial in on the replays and could for the life of me not figure out what they were checking (was watching with no audio).

Assumed it was for diving/theatrics.

The Aussie player was so low there was nothing else the opposition could do.
 
Australia's best bet for a win will be in Cape Town.

Not sure they have played at the new stadium before?

Eddie Jones once said he could see his players' morale drop as the plane came in to land at JHB for a test at Ellis Park. Not their favourite place.

That said, it would be in their interest to target that game in my opinion as the Boks may just feel they can rely on that factor.

The Aussies did look good the last two games, but after watching yesterday, I was wondering if it’s not a case of the lions being tired. I don’t think players are used to these long tours anymore.

The toll on thr body is a lot higher than it was and there was no European cup decades ago.
 
Australia will be disappointed. Led the Lions for most of the series. Probably should have won it.
Lions were rather disappointing overall.
 
Yes, I think a fair observation is that this Lions team was not the best. Wallabies gave it a good go and with some luck, they could have won the 2nd test also.
 
Good weekend for the smaller unions over their more fancied opponents in the Currie Cup; although the bigger unions are saving their players who are getting ready for the URC. Also, some players are with the Boks on national duty.
Finally, Rugby Championship starts this weekend!!

Not a bad team but I don't know why Rassie doesn't pick a specialist no 8. Then again, he's the coach and knows better. Also, I like Franco (Sous) but would rather have RG coming off the bench. Apart from that, I can't find fault.
 
Lovely team but the libbok nightmare as keymaker against Oz, risky biscuits ...... no bmt that popehol

The 8s are all banned / injured. Siya played at 8 most of the URC, so not totally out of the box.
