Imagine the pressure the Aus kicker faced there. Damn well played Italy.

Aus was lucky to have 15 men on the park for those final few minutes anyway.

3 x foul plays in a matter of minutes. Lucky the ref was so lenient.

Whatever happens tonight against France, the Boks will be nervous ahead of next week's clash in Italy. Italy will be eyeing a hattrick of Southern Hemisphere scalps.

That young nippy fullback of Italy is one for the future.

Last time I was so excited about an Italian player was when Sergio Parisse still played.

Some Japan trivia...

The selected Japanese side has 5 South African born players.

- Gerhard van den Heever
- Dylan Riley
- Kotaro Matsushima
- Wimper van der Walt
- Pieter "Lappies" Labuschagne

10 Players of the side are ethnic Japanese, #3 and #22 are Korean.

Not going into everyone, but all their Pacific players are Japan schooled. Michael Litch has been practically Japanese since he was 16. I don't know the background of some players, but Warner Dearns who is New Zealand born, is 20, and earned his citizenship. All the others have been playing club rugby in Japan for some time for eligibility.

Good luck to Japan. I have this feeling they're going to be on the receiving end of an English backlash though, although happy to be proved wrong. Suppose the plus side is that no one expects them to win so they can just go out and express themselves.

Doesn't look too good early on for Japan.

Getting manhandled by the English forwards and backs not making any headway with ball in hand.

Hopefully they can gather some momentum.

Unless Japan gets a momentum swing I can't see them score. They are smashed up front, and by England's forwards.

From observing the game, Japan can only blame themselves, they are mistake-prone in every facet of play. As if they aren't prepared for this match. Not up to a tier-1 standard.

So far two matches results have gone my way, Italy and England wins. Just need Argentina and France to win as well, I would say that is a great weekend of results.

Come on Puma's and Les Bleus.

Edit: Forgot about NZ Scotland tomorrow, Come on NZ

Been a while since I have seen a South African referee in a big match. Few in URC as well.

Are we still producing referees?

Yes, SA Rugby Referees hasn't gone anywhere. It is more a question if we are producing professional referees for national duty. I know a couple of qualified referees, but they are all corporately employed, doing their provincial duty when available.

We have about ~20 referees on the SA rugby panel.

I think the last decent ref SARU produced was Jonathan Kaplan, however SARU are producing great Documentaries of Rassie's story's and how other refs are useless.
