Sto v Bulls and Leinster v Ulster, SHA v Munster. URC teams gonna knock one another out.

All 8 URC made the knockouts!

Surely there's a better 10 in the free state? Masuku is not it... Yes, he kicked a high pressure winning penalty in a knock out fixture but honestly.. He butchered so much. Missed penalty touch on 3 consecutive attempts. Ridiculous at this level.

Weekend Vodacom United Rugby Champions Fixtures - SA sides only -:
- Scarlets v Vodacom Bulls (Llanelli, Friday 21.35)
- Ulster v DHL Stormers (Belfast, Friday 21.35)
- Edinburgh v Cell C Sharks (Edinburgh, Saturday 19.15)
- Connacht v Emirates Lions (Galway, Saturday 21.35)

All our teams are playing away. Think Bulls and Stormers might burgle a win but Sharks and Lions will taste defeat.

Not a big fan of these near 22h kick-off times and two local teams involved at the same time across two matches as well.

Switched off the Stormers v Ulster game because the Stormers are getting absolutely destroyed just to see that the Bulls are getting slaughtered by Scarlets....

Wow the Bulls have really gone downhill fast.

The lack of decent squad depth is being exposed.

Difficult to compete in multiple leagues.

Massive workload for the players.

But why? Sharks have money why aren't they able to produce quality players from the academy?

I'm sure the rest have good academies also. Why can Leinster do it so well but we can't?

European clubs have been building squad depth for years and years.

They need to, to compete in leagues where they playing 11 months a year.

Sharks have money but none of the SA franchises have the sort of budgets the European clubs do.

No club has been able to emulate the success Leinster have. I'm sure many are trying.

The quality players SA produce, a good number of them, end up being bought and playing abroad.

We do the bare minimum to get by, because if you develop too many players who don't get game time your opponents will just buy them.

It will take some time for the 2nd teams, which do exist at all the unions to get up to the standard of the 1st team. The skills is there but it is a shift in mentality/confidence.

This could be seen by the bulls game. They scored a quick try, thought it was going to be an easy win and then relaxed.

Sharks 14 - 0 up then starts throwing the game away... Typical Sharks.

What a game?! Brilliant defense Sharks! Absolutely epic! The Powell factor!!

Ahh the ref tried but he could not ignore the obvious knock on at the end there. He was marching the Sharks back all the way for Edinburgh to score.

Other than the Sharks stellar performance, it has been a bleak weekend for the SA teams.

The itinerary is catching up with them.
