Our win ratio against ABs under Rassie is 50/50 as is. Our winrate pre our return from isolation was positive as well.

Its only since 1992, stuck with amatuer, inept management and a government forcing window dressing instead of working longterm sustainable systems, Bok brand suffered heavily.

Rassie does seem to doing a sterling job of righting the ship since 2018, fingers crossed.

Not looking forward to the test match. Not looking forward to the torrential rain forecast for Saturday!! Hate, HATE a wet test!!! Conditions dictate how we will play and I can't see us playing with the same gay abandon as the last 3 or 4 tests. I'm expecting 10 man rugby given the conditions so very much back to the forward dominated power game. Our new found running game should be put back on the shelf for this one... or will they?

Anyway, Rassie has gone tilt with this team selection. The more I analyze it, the less sense it makes. But in Rassie we trust.

I feel like he's thrown his mate Joe a massive lifeline. By the same token if Aussie lose it will be an embarrassing defeat to what essentially amounts to a 3rd team (the starting XV in any event). The bench is gun!!

Looking at our tight 5, that's a 3rd/4th team tight 5, think about it... Full strength our selections would look something like this....
1. Kitshoff/Ox
2. Bongi/Marx
3. Malherbe/Koch
4. Eben/Franco
5. Lood/RG

Individually, they are very good players but to chuck them together a week ahead of a test, that's a very Barbarian thing to do. How quickly they settle, could determine the outcome but given the weather conditions, we in for a messy, scrappy, disjointed affair. A battle of the 10's perhaps? Manie might not get off the bench. Pollard is the wet weather king.

The Boks battle to string together 2 big performances in a row, think RWC France and then the downer that was England, NZ in Nelspruit, then the downer at Ellis Park, Ireland at Loftus and Ireland at Kings Park. What all these changes ensure is the team won't be suffering the same malaise we've seen in previous back to back tests. One would expect the energy level and emotional charge to be right, right up there!!

In terms of the running game, I flipping love it!! I love the style of rugby we currently playing. It has Tony Browns fingerprints all over it and I haven't been this excited about a Bok team since Nik Mallett's record equaling Boks. Yes it's high risk, yes it deviates slightly from our DNA, but man, it's the way the games meant to be played. There's still room for the Bok power game but we finding different ways to hurt opponents. We've refined our lineout maul and have maintained our scrum dominance. So elements of the set piece dominance and power game remain, while we have added layers and width to our attack. LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!

The Optus Stadium in Perth has a retractable roof but not sure who's decision it is as to whether it is closed or not.

Yes, I mean our abysmal average record against NZ. Not pre 1992 or after 2018. Currently sitting at 41% I think.

Yeah, it'll get fixed, but will take time after 25+ years of taking a beating at the hands of inept management unfortunately. Rassie has us in the right direction, just a matter if time, it took 25yrs to fall behind like that wont get fixed over night.

Also, interestingly, with record being 50/50 with a draw, its the Boks with the positive net score in our matchups since 2018, thats a nice change for sure, 11 tests total, and we the team outscoring NZ not the other way around.

Your concerns about arrogance in Bok camp makes no sense.

Humbleness has been a hallmark standard in that group. Why would it change now, doesnt make sense🤷

Taking calculated risks in lieu of building to 2027, tranfering IP to new generation, expanding our game isn't a bad thing, isn't arrogance, what seems implied by your post is all Im thinking

Honestly, how the squad has been managed and Rassie's approach to team dynamic and development since he took over, the training camps everything else we've seen, not sure its accurate to see this as a squad of individuals thrown together last minute to be honest.

Just knowing that the forwards conduct scrum training against real ppl, not a scrum machine, and regularly all about swapping combination at training for developing skills, sharing/learning skillsets from eachother, how to adapt etc etc, these forwards arent going into scrums etc blind, no knowledge/understanding of eachother etc.

Yes!! We are playing modern rugby now...at long last.

We use our brute strength and size for scrums and ruck&maul.

BUT now we have tight forwards passing quickly or running INTO GAPS instead of trying to be tough and running over people.

This means our back line does everything on full gallop.

Exciting stuff and with our depth of talent, the future looks bright.

Watch us lose this Saturday and against the AB's...
 
I didn't know the scrum from a free kick thing was actually being outlawed, thought it was a joke :oops:

It's real, but like many have alluded to, incl Jake White and others, including our Bok camp, its much ado about nothing as the vast majority of scrums are awarded from penalties and knock-on's, including many scrum infringements themselves being penalties per the rule book itself (son busy studying coaching).

Was a bit of a surprise for me too tbh wrt scrum stats etc. Also, 'freekicks' don't award scrums so can just give away freekicks is a false flag too as its also in the rules that any cynical play/repeat infringements are automatically upgraded to penalties, so will get a scrum anyway.

It's like the rule was almost entirely targeted at calling scrums off a mark.

Ah, I think you're right. Although I Googled, the result may have been misleading.

On further inspection, it does seem to be spectators only.
