But we sent b teams to Europe this past weekend.

Too much rugby I guess

If you end in the top 8 of URC you get rewarded with a place in the champions cup. It's the best of the best. So you end up playing URC and champions cup simultaneously.

It's challenging. Puts the squad depth under huge scrutiny. Now the saffas don't have the budgets to build squads with the depth and quality of the French. The budgetary differentials are vast.

We on a hiding to nothing.

It's a vicious circle. We want to be in the Champions Cup and so fight tooth and nail in the URC to qualify. But when we qualify, we don't prioritise Champions Cup games (especially away ones) as we need to save our players for the URC games knowing they're important for entry into the CC. Weird!

Only positive for me is more players get exposed to the higher levels. Downside of the way we do it is those players are brought up in a losing culture. In my opinion you stick to URC while building up your capacity, introducing a couple of new players at a time. That way you'll end up with a strong squad of 30+. Yes, I know money is an issue to support squads that size, but the way we currently do it isn't working. The guys being sent on tour know they're like the nightwatchmen of cricket..expendable. Trying their best not to lose by too much. Don't know whether opting out of the Champions Cup is an option if you qualify though.

Do they? I thought he was out with a hip pointer injury?
Oh wow, he picked up a hip pointer injury against the Lions last week. Didn't think he was fit for today but he was and is now off injured with a shoulder injury?

If I were Rassie I wouldn't bank on him being fit come the 2027 RWC. Kid has a glass jaw unfortunately...

Once again a fully loaded springbok sharks team can't win. So so bad.

Currently watching Quinn's Vs Leicester. Great game. So entertaining. The European product is so much more of a spectacle.

"(He) has had a scan. We hoping he won’t need an operation. It looks like he will be out between four to six weeks, however he will be seeing a specialist for further update on his injury,” Plumtree said"

How that cowardly illegal tackle went unpunished is beyond me. Hope he gets it back tenfold, pos

Some decent matches regarding the SA sides this weekend -
- Stormers v Sale Sharks - 3pm (Champions Cup),
- Sharks v Toulouse - 5:15pm (Champions Cup) ,
- Castres v Bulls - 10pm (Champions Cup),
- Montpellier v Lions - 7:30pm (European Challenge Cup)
Good luck boys!

Blimming tough fixtures. Just hope we can competitive, finishing within a score would be great... not expecting to win to many. Stormers better than average chance of victory, Sharks little to no chance, I'd say 25/75, Bulls 50/50, Lions 40/60...

Even though the Sharks have a bunch of Springboks I have no hope of a victory there. They are one team that make sure that Springbok players offer zero advantage at all.
