Cheetahs need a competition. I wish they could join Super Rugby, but I think travel and NZ opposition would kill that.

Perhaps the only option is a Northern Hemisphere competition with Romanian, Georgian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and other regional sides. Get the Griquas involved, or resurrect Southern Kings/Spears and then you have a tournament. Perhaps one side from each country and three/two RSA sides and you have about an 8 team league.

I dunno man. Not many great options for Cheetahs.

"The 20-minute red card will join the suite of global law trials already in effect and will make its Rugby World Cup debut at the women’s event in England this August as well as being used in the U20 Championship in June."

"Council also approved a measure so that from 2025, all law trials in the men’s game will begin on 1 August each year, ensuring that all international matches are played under the same set of law and trials regardless of where in the world they are played."

They were unfairly kicked out the pro14 imo. They started something.

My work colleague just gave this to me from his coaching days in craven week.
Who said the perfect tie didnt exist.

Was a part of the game 10min or so prior to and after half time where I thought they lost it a bit. Too many mistakes and penalties. Can't afford 2 yellows vs the All Blacks. Lucky not to have had a 3rd one just before Arg scored, Thought the ref blew the rolling maul different when we were defending it. A lot more lenient with Arg.... or it might just be my lack of knowledge in that area :) Must say, I was impressed with the Arg scrum though

I just don't see a tournament where they will fit in, though. There are so many obstructions to them joining anything. It feels like SA rugby is ignoring them, hoping they die and just stick around for Currie Cup.

URC - No way the Irish or Scottish let more SA teams in. Rightfully so as four SA teams is enough.

Super Rugby - The NZers would not allow a "reject" RSA team in especially with increased travel. If all the unions came along, then they would be more comfortable and a team to replace the Rebels but wow... I don't know.
Maybe the increase in TV revenue would help, but I don't see how they will be let in.

New tournament - Even more tough to set up and get going.

The problem with this is what happens to the side that gets relegated. There are multi-year contracts with the players, coaches, admin staff etc.

Jasper Wiese will miss the bulk of the Rugby Championship as punishment for his headbutt on an Italian player in Gqeberha.

He’s has been slapped with a four-match suspension after receiving a red card in South Africa’s 45-0 thrashing of Italy.

The suspension, confirmed by a World Rugby disciplinary panel on Tuesday, means Wiese will miss the final Test of the Incoming Series against Georgia in Nelspruit, both Rugby Championship clashes against Australia in Johannesburg and Cape Town (16 & 23 August), and the first All Blacks Test in Auckland (6 September).
