Because it was a drop out kick, instead of a throw or just leaving the ball.

So Willemse just walks the ball out that causes us to defend a maul and Marx has to drag it down. Gives away the penalty try and yellow card.

This game doesn't make sense.

Also our players do not know how the goal line drop out works. You can kick from anywhere it doesn't have to be from underneath the posts.
