The players are dropping like flies. Game was a bit slow but there were some good periods of play.

Always upright. No intention to use arms / wrap. Direct head contact.

What are you seeing that I'm not?

In real time it didn't look like much maybe a mis timed tackle although no arms, no HIA so was there proper head contact ?

SO a question. We scored two tries, one Sasha and the other I think Curtley. Where we kick the ball, their player jumps in air to catch ball, but our player jumps and hit their player in the back and their player looses the ball.
Both times our player did jump for the ball but did not touch it.
Is that legal? It almost feels like we playing them in the air?

The consequences (i.e. injury) shouldn't affect the sanction. The purpose is to remove dangerous actions from the game. The same action that is innocuous this time could break someone's neck next time. The point is if the actions are illegal, the consequences are irrelevant.

Was it an illegal tackle? Did he use his arms? Was there head contact? On a purely objective view this was a slam dunk red.

Great win by the Boks. Clinical. Pity about Ox, we definately gonna miss him against the Frogs.
Enthralling game between Ireland and NZ. Good win by the all Blacks but the Irish are still strong and will be a big threat, especially when we play them at home.
I did not expect the Aussies to fall away so badly against the Poms.

One feels the fixture against France is season defining for the Boks.

They're currently 8 from 10, decent return but to be comparable to the great sides of the past we would need to see out the year 12 from 14.

France at home are no joke. They have their injury woes with Du Pont still sidelined and injuries to other key players. Neither SA or France will be at full strength.

One would also expect a fair degree of ring rust given that France have not played a test together since the 6 nations. The squad that toured NZ is likely to be very different to the one contesting EOYT. This is a grudge game of note for Fr since they believe they were robbed in the QF's.

Anyway, the French test is every bit as big as the Eden Park test. Would be nice to win this one but I have France taking it by a score or less...

Just having a closer look at Frances injury woes and it's a lot worse than I thought. Might have to reconsider my prediction of a French win. They have incredible depth though, only we can match them in that department. Evidence of how much depth, how well their "B team" did in NZ in July. Yes, they lost 3 out 3 but they were super competitive in every fixture...

The France national rugby union team is currently experiencing significant injury issues ahead of their November 2025 Test series, with a large number of key players unavailable. The squad has been forced to make several changes to the initial 42-man list.

Key Injured Players and Status
  • Antoine Dupont (Scrum-half/Captain): Ruled out of the November internationals as he continues recovery from a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury sustained during the 2025 Six Nations in March.
  • Matthieu Jalibert (Fly-half): Sustained a thigh injury during a Top 14 match in late October and has been withdrawn from the squad. He has been replaced by Ugo Seunes.
  • Uini Atonio (Tight-head Prop): The experienced prop is expected to be out for up to six months after suffering a serious hamstring injury in June.
  • Gabin Villière (Wing): Misses the November Tests after undergoing surgery for a groin problem, having also dealt with a finger injury earlier in the year.
  • Yoram Moefana & Jonathan Danty (Centres): Both are sidelined with injuries, depleting the midfield options.
  • Peato Mauvaka (Hooker) & Charles Ollivon (Flanker): Both are on the extensive injury list and will miss the November internationals.
  • Romain Taofifenua (Lock): Suffered an injury in a club game in late October and has been replaced in the squad by Baptiste Pesenti.
  • Tevita Tatafu, Sipili Falatea, Paul Mallez (Props): These players join Atonio on the list of unavailable tight-head props.
  • Maxime Lucu & Baptiste Couilloud (Scrum-halves): Both are also sidelined, adding to the injury crisis in the half-back positions.
  • Théo Attissogbe & Romain Buros (Outside backs): Both are unavailable due to injuries, with Attissogbe requiring knee surgery.

These injuries mean France coach Fabien Galthié will have to rely heavily on squad depth and has called up several uncapped players, such as Léo Barré and Ugo Seunes, for the upcoming matches against South Africa, Fiji, and Australia.

I think the whistling will be very loud each time they think a tackle is high or a player is offside.

As a ref that really influences their decision making. They can say it doesn't but it does.

We will need to clinical and lethal. Sort of like a smash and grab job and go.

Yip, oh and the ref is Angus Gardner. We have a fairly decent record with him in charge. 7 from 12 since 2016... personally I'm not a big fan but then I'm not a big fan of refs in general. Not their fault, but as is the human condition I feel aggrieved at every 50/50 that goes against us.

French crowds are an absolute menace. Inevitably they will influence the 50/50 calls.

Home ground advantage is a thing in rugby. 50/50s are a thing in rugby. So by definition if a call is technically right, either way, a ref will err on the side of the home team. More of a 65/35 than a 50/50... that's the unfortunate nature of the sport, the laws and the human condition... unavoidable and something we have to live with.

Perhaps home ground advantage plays a greater role in rugby union than in just about any other sport...??

France + revenge + wanting blood + French crowd = it’s going to be rough. Time for Rassie to pull out the ghetto blasters on the training field.

Hey big guy, now with a soft undertone I ask have you played rugby before ?

It’s not Illegal if both players are off the ground in the air both attempting to catch the ball. The bigger the catcher the more of an advantage you have as you take a lot of momentum weight though while in the air.

Or even taller 😊
