I don't know what you guys think about this but I think this year is gonna be the year that hatred for the ANC will reach a fever pitch and will of course set the stage for the defeat of the ANC at the polls.

Going by the reactions since the start of the year, I definitely think we'll see harder losses for ANC than we did last year.

The people are gatvol.

I won't claim to be an expert on how dignity packs should be distributed, but there have been plenty instances where they are handed out publicly, I even thought to myself that maybe the less stigma there is to it, the better. I am sure the photo opportunity doesn't hurt for a politician like Panyaza but he is not doing anything that has never been done before.

Of course I do understand that some people might prefer a discrete way of going about it, while some would think nothing of it.

I agree. Less stigma the better it is. I hope they gave packs to the shy ones as well and not only the "bold" ones who came on stage. Although, I really doubt if even 5% of such target audience would be shy (considering high number of school pregnancies in many places) but it is just my guestimate.

For me it's not about stigma, but about respectfully dealing with an issue that schoolgirls need a bit of privacy and such about.

Handing them out publicly like that is tacky as all hell and may actually make some recipients shy away from a very good thing purely because it's embarrassing for them.

Precisely.

It's about respect and common decency just like @ToxicBunny said.

The fact that this is a thing is appalling. Handing out sanitary pads styled as a damned prize-giving? That in itself, keeps the stigma you mention going.

Since that in itself says it's an achievement or rarity for girls to just have sanitary pads. When it should, of course, be the norm.

This shouldn't be a thing.

Curious to see what they're planning.
Maybe they can start by dropping the solar tariffs and registration admin in CPT. Maybe give a proper feed-in tariff, and drop the silly remote reader fee. I support this action, but the DA is actually also guilty of stepping on people with a socialist shoe.

As Eskom drags the economy down with it, we continue to urge government to get out of the electricity generation business.

  • Privatise electricity generation. This includes allowing citizens to generate their own power to keep the lights on.
  • Change the law so businesses and individuals can sell the extra electricity they generate onto the grid for others to use.
  • Offer a R75 000 tax rebate to cover the cost of installing solar systems in homes, to take pressure off the grid.
  • Zero-rate VAT on LED lightbulbs and energy-efficient appliances.
  • Ease the regulatory requirements for sub 100MW generation, to bring small Independent Power Producers (IPPs) online quicker.

We can only dream...
