Malema isn't Zulu which is a big problem for him in KZN specifically. I will make a prediction right now that the EFF will go down in 2024 compared to 2019 in KZN. IFP are already locked in to wipe the board in northern KZN and it will be a straight ANC/IFP fight in southern KZN.

It's a ploy, his problem is very simple, if he loses the hold he has on the DA by always being available to give them the power they need, he is going to be very vulnerable to the ANC.

His modus operandi is to be in bed with one party while always having that hold that he can leave any time on them, if one between the DA and the ANC tells him to get lost he loses his power.

All that about common policies is overrated, at the end power is power, if he maintains his position he can give the DA the Presidency and the power they so desperately need, knowing fully well he can yank it any time.

He is a businessman before a politician. He will back whatever suits his and Mazotti's interest at any point in time.

In LGEs. A district muni is comprised of a number of munis. They're the third ballot.

Metros don't vote for districts in LGEs.

P.S IDK what district munis really do...

True, not being Zulu in KZN is a problem for all parties, DA, ANC, ActionSA and others, not just the EFF. The EFF's biggest problem is that unlike the others all it's political strategy is based on populism, unfortunately KZN is different, populism that works for you in Gauteng will not really work in KZN.

The Zuma thing is the only thing they can hold onto, if the ANC suffers in KZN he stands to gain alongside the IFP, I believe that can stem the tide of their decline in the province.

3 ballots? Isn't there just 1 in a metro, you vote for a councillor? I can't remember.

District munis sounds like a waste of resources.

I have already elaborated on it, backing the DA could give the DA power, as long as the DA accepts that power he has got them, he will let President Moonshot get used to walking the lawns of The Union Buildings and just when he is starting to feel comfortable he will yank the power from him, by that time the ANC would be so desperate and he will have more bargaining power to demand things from them.

He will give them the power and keep them on a short leash, all the while the Moonshot partners will be getting restless reminiscing about all the changes they were planning to do in government and the Moonshot will collapse again.

Malema and the EFF thrives in chaos and that's how they remain relevant, the more relevant you are the longer you survive in politics, as long as you can keep your head above water your fortunes can change either by your own doing or a series of very favorable events, just like the IFP in KZN.

The district model is informed by trying to get a workable solution in rural areas and areas without big economic power like the metros.

In rural areas for an example you have vast areas of land that is not occupied, if you just have one municipality like a metro you are going to have a very big problem reaching everyone and delivering services, that's where the local municipalities comes in. At the end of the day it is all in the spirit of bringing government closer to the people, it is local government after all, it doesn't become local if your municipality is 200 000 kms away.

But I do agree that having a mayor for every local municipality is a waste in the district model, in some areas you can do with local MMCs reporting directly to the executive mayor of the district.

So PMB and Howick have 2 Mayors. How many Mayors in the district. Does the district Mayor rule over all the other Mayors?

What a joke our system is and no wonder its a ****up.
