It wouldn't be the worst outcome (ANC/EFF coalition would be, of course), but it would be very far from ideal and mostly unworkable. I know DA supporters don't get a say on anything, but I would hazard a guess that DA supporters (not DA leadership) would vote down a proposal by a large margin, which would suggest electoral armageddon later down the line, especially further leakage to the FF+.

The problem is we lack a viable alternative in the current climate.

The DA has still not realised they can survive without supporters who jump over to the Freedom Front every time they don't get their way, all thanks to Zille of course.

The ANC has survived all along with voters jumping over to the IFP when the ANC elects a non Zulu leader, it's something the DA must have learnt to live with long ago, but Zille has elevated the right wing supporters above everybody in the party and the DA has allowed her. As soon as they realise there's more to politics than being what they are currently, they will be fine.

So DA reiterates that EFF is the greatest threat to our democracy (which is true).

They disagree with Oom Pieter's racial view on the Presidency and Trollip says JS shouldn't automatically become the candidate (Of course he would, which is funny since JS himself said the same thing...).

And DA has finished their candidate screening. I assume Winde will get a second chance/term as premier candidate. Not sure what the other provinces will look like...

They're letting him live rent free in their head. Malema and his party have completely different target voter bases to the DA. So, the DA should really focus on arresting their losses and gaining 10%+ in the next election and I think they can get that by just getting their apathetic voter bloc voting again.

It's not the supporters in this case. Their donors like Naspers, who donates to both parties, would want them to start putting their issues aside and work together like grown ups in the best interest of the country...

Unlike when Mmusi was DA leader, the DA are not losing wards left, right and centre in by elections (in fact the last by-elections they took 2/3 wards off GOOD). When actual voters go to the polling booth, there is no evidence they are losing voters.

John's politics of fear will be the theme going towards this elections, which of course appeals to the voters they already have.
