Either used as a fuel to run converted generators/turbines or using hydrogen fuel cells. Not sure on the scalability of either.

The scientists should jump in here, but as I understand it Durban extracts methane/natural gas from that refuse site. The methane/ natural gas is the used to generate electricity.

One can make hydrogen from natural gas but I don't know it's efficient to do so when wanting to use hydrogen to produce electricity.

Yeah they do... but at the end of the day whatever they extract is burned to generate the power.

Obviously would need more info on the Mogale City plan to be 100% sure, but I'd hazard a guess it will be burned at some point to generate the power.
