So, if 100% voted instead of 32% then they would have got like a crap load more or than 52% or are 100% of the DA/FF voters voting already?

Difficult to say what percentage more they would have received with a higher voter turnout.

Looking at the totals a lot less DA and FF+ voters voted yesterday.

In the 2021 municipal elections, the DA received 51,52% of the vote. I think the voter turnout was about 52% then.

This is very misleading.

The DP was a 1.7% party but it was not the only one that made up the coalition that led to the formation of the DA circa 2000.

They usually respond by saying the ANC ended up merging with the NP.

That merger was a convenient arrangement to get the likes of Kortbroeks and a few others jobs but the ex NP voting blocks did not go to the ANC.

There is no way to know how much or little of the NP voting block shifted with people like kortbroek.

Yeah, it won't make much of a difference in the metros, maybe in some municipality in the middle of nowhere where any of the big parties needs just a seat or two to govern.

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Thembi Nkadimeng said the government was considering several proposals, which included a 1% threshold for political party proportional representation in municipal councils.

This proposal would see the number of political parties, who qualify for council election, shrink considerably.

I think ANC and DA might find each other regarding thresholds...
