Now that the elections are a week away who do you think will be the biggest flop i.e. a party that gets a lot of Media and Social media attention but will barely make an impact in terms of overall votes?

And on the opposite end which party might be a dark horse and do well despite no one paying attention to them.

Biggest flop: Rise Mzansi (by a country mile). I guess some could argue Action SA, but the amount of positive attention from the adoring media given to this ridiculously small party (Rise) will far outweigh the votes that it achieves. Rise also had the benefit - unlike many other new and/or small parties - of being well-funded and yet it hasn't done much with that funding from what I can see. Unlike the well-oiled DA machine which is saturating the airwaves on radio, launching TV ads, an effective "Get out the vote" operation and social media adverts.

Dark horse: I need to think about that one a bit more because I don't think any party will achieve much beyond expectations.

I think EFF will do badly and PA will get more votes than expected (Gayton has been running good social media game). Other than that, it will be boring but there is a lot of unknowns going into this election. Maybe something that none of us predicted will happen.

Biggest flop: Rise, Bosa and ASA.

Dark horse: DA

I agree the EFF will do badly and it might even be enough to make Julius try scurry back to the ANC. I think the PA will do well enough within their band but nowhere near what some people think.

Given the complete shyte show in politics in general I think polling is going to prove to be wildly inaccurate this time around.

Hmm...my expectations of the PA is that they are going to become the WC's 3rd biggest party, but I feel their vote share won't get near the double figures that Gayton and others are predicting. I'll put a satisfactory showing for them at around 5-7% of the WC provincial vote.

Of course, they won't get what Gayton says. Almost all the parties give exaggerated high figures during campaigning to show ambition. It's a political tactic to show confidence. I thought you would know that by now.

But there was an article on News24 a few days ago which said that some DA members are concerned about their growth in WC.

Biggest flop among the newbies will be Rise and BOSAWMMABCDEFGQR

Old flops will be ASA/EFF/Good for nothing

Not interested in the once off wonders ala ELFSA. Those were dead before take-off
