That's a big stretch. The United party was the Liberal party of its time.

Negotiating is give and take. Not about holding anyone to ransom. It's a good thing the negotiations are being done by professionals and not keyboard experts.

The ANC humbled themselves and respect their place, the DA has done the same. It's a good platform to come to a middle ground from both sides.

We've also only seen speakers being elected. It's a pattern that the DA gets deputy, which they obviously agreed to. We don't know what the committees or cabinet will look like, but they've both agreed that will be be proportional to the vote share they bring to the GNU...

I still would have preferred Speaker and not being in Government, but hey I didn't even vote DA.

I think there might have been a minority government in the past, I have to go through the records, but it was FPTP so a completely different system. In actual fact, the National Party got into majority of seats, even though they lost the popular vote (by almost 15%). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_South_African_general_election
