With counting underway, it's not looking great for parties that staged strong campaigns in Gauteng boasting financial backing. One such party was Rise Mzansi. The party received 1 860 votes from the regional ballot at 10.05%, updated at 11:04.

On the provincial ballot, 11.26% of the votes counted, the party received 2 210 votes so far.
 
Jeez, the amount of voting districts that gave 90.0 percent to the DA is off the charts in urban Cape Town! Don't recall seeing so many in 2019! Melkbosstrand, Somerset West, Muizenberg, Edgemead, Durbanville!
 
DA's Pappas says MK Party's emergence disrupted KZN's political landscape

The DA's KwaZulu-Natal premier candidate, Chris Pappas, says the emergence of the MK Party disrupted all political parties in the province.

The MK party is currently in the lead with 9.15% of the vote being counted in the province.

Speaking to News 24 at the KZN's Results Operations Centre on Thursday, Pappas said the DA was currently in fourth spot behind the IFP in third spot and the ANC in second.

"They [MK] disrupted all political parties especially when they first came out. They were new and making a lot of noise, the court cases gave them a lot of coverage," he said.

"It was something that gave a shock to all political parties," said Pappas.

He said there is still a long way to go for the counting process and the DA is confident their numbers would rise.

He said throughout their campaign, they said no one was going to get 50% in the province and they will be proven right.

Pappas said by the look of things, the formation of the new government in the province is going to be very interesting.

"I am also grateful to the voters who came out yesterday because there were long queues all around the province. This is a testimony to people's belief that democracy can be a vehicle for change and that voting can bring change," he said.

Regardless of the MK Party's early lead in the province, Pappas said they have been clear that they would not work with the newcomers.

ANC+IFP+DA coalition in KZN?

uBaba won't work with Cyril's ANC.

And even if he did work with them, he commands the lion's share of the vote, so they'll just get whatever scraps he deems fit for them. With IFP+DA they'll all get more or less an equal share.

They don't seem to have many options...
