It's simple for me, people don't get fed up by the country's biggest problems, they get fed up by things that affects them directly.

I think for me people get fed up by the things that affect them directly, or the things that they are told affect them directly. Many people have totally lost the ability to think critically about the crap that spews forth from politicians and leaders mouths.

The flag has been cancelled and now people are aggrieved that Ramaphosa is making a joke about it, that is the story of our lives, that's how we roll.
Sure, the flag has been cancelled but the point still stands that if the public didn't intervene, then the gov would've just done it anyway.

The gov wants to put up a 100m flag that "provides continuous learning" for R22 million while our unemployment is through the roof, children are forced to eat sand to survive, our police decayed and useless, and actual cultural institutions can't keep their heads above board, etc.

So now to add insult to injury the same gov wants to play it off as if it's all a massive joke.

It's basically laughing in the face of the average South African. Much like how Zuma smugly said "Nkandla, Nkandla" in Parliament when confronted about using taxpayer money for Nkandla, also laughing in the face of the average South African.

Remember what I told you yesterday when I said he could fire Mthethwa tomorrow and people will still moan even when that's what they were calling for?

The flag has been cancelled and now people are aggrieved that Ramaphosa is makings joke about it, that is the story of our lives, that's how we roll.

Fscking damn right I'm aggrieved he's making jokes about it.
They've spent R1.7m on fscking stupid shyte with the intention of spending R22m overall on something we don't need and which was clearly corrupt as all hell, whilst artists and museums etc are struggling to stay afloat (just keeping the money within the Arts and Culture department).

Foreigners aren't this country's biggest problem. Not that the issue with borders shouldn't be dealt with, but that's just one small problem in a sea of bigger fish.
Sure, you have a point there.
But illegal immigration is part of a myriad of problems that have been ignored for years by the gov. And every time there was an attempt to bring it into the political mainstream/discourse or there was an outcry, it got shot down as xenophobia, just like it is now.

I agree with you on Dudula tho, but we can't ignore our problem with illegal immigration because we have other problems too.

Precisely.

I've tried searching for it again, but my Google skills are failing me. It mentioned a roughly 25 yr rule seems to be where things start going wrong for a party in power that long.

I'll try find it again.
Looking forward to it

Some might call that democracy in action. And the government are claiming it shows they listened to the people and cancelled the project.

They shouldn't have thought of such dumb **** (Cabinet approved btw) while our country has a myriad of urgent problems to tend to in the first place.

The same with the Cuba donation shite.

It is democracy in action to some level without a doubt, but its the joking attitude after the fact that is making many of us even more hopping mad.

The attitude should be of shame and being stupidly apologetic for wasting tax payers money.

How many times have people been told that Zuma affects them directly? Has there ever been a mass uprising about him? I think sometimes we confuse poverty with not being able to think for yourself, people in communities where Dudula is popular can think and make decisions on their own.

Fact is people had long been fed up, long before Dudula and Nhlanhla Lux were a thing, what Dudula has done is bring organisation to the movement.

Lmao.

Yeah, the President laughing about the R22 million flag that he and his Cabinet approved that got the entire country angry like it's some stand-up skit, is great, we should just laugh along...

"Hahaha, another ANC ****up to our dismay! And they're laughing about it, so we should too! "

I wonder if we have to thank this lady for getting through to the ivory tower?

Oh no question, and I'm not saying people can't think for themselves, but they choose not to when the "solution" to a problem is something that they can grab with both hands effectively.

Saying Zuma is the problem is a distant thing that they can't actively fix... but saying the foreigner down the road is the reason you don't have a job is something you can actively fix and you suspend your own thought processes. Even us middle class "intelligent" people do the same thing at times.

That ENCA clip is just absolutely amazing... I'm surprised the ENCA oke didn't just go "Nathi, you're a fscking idiot, shut up"
The highlights are the "steel industry" and the "education/continuous learning" parts, lol.

But I agree with the antie in the vid, we must throw 'em out in 2024.

Yeah, it will "bring the steel industry"... because a 120m flag pole is something amazing for our steel industry that they will fall over themselves to be involved in.

The company that gets the tender will become a multinational conglomerate after making that 120m flagpole... They will save our economy

I had a sense of deja vu. I was expecting a "please protect me from yourself"
