Ford owner opinion:

Not surprised to see 1.5 Ambiente Ecosport in 8th as Ford Credit deals made for aggressive pricing all year long which has clearly paid off with the volumes moved.

Interesting to see Ranger Wildtrak featured in 25th spot but not XLT in the top 40. Backs up what my salesman told me a little while ago - Wildtrak now outsells XLT which is quite something considering the price premium, although you do get a bit more tech.

Not much, unless you go back a few years. And then you'd be looking at cars with no service/maintenance plans and/or warranties...

I searched for a 2014 Sandero Dynamique on Autotrader & the cheapest car was R134 000.

Wow inflation outperforming the depreciation on used cars. This just shows how crazy new car prices is.

Six model derivatives have this month been officially discontinued in South Africa.

All of these vehicles have thus been removed from their respective manufacturers’ official price lists, although there may be some run-out stock scattered around the country.

So, what’s no longer available? Well, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage has been withdrawn from the British automaker’s local line-up, although the V8 Vantage S and V12 Vantage remain firmly in place.

The Ford Grand Tourneo Connect range – which comprised two derivatives, a 1,6-litre turbo-petrol and a 1,6-litre turbo-diesel – has also been killed off (although the Tourneo Connect remains).

Thanks to the launch of the facelifted Clio range, both the Renault Clio Blaze and Renault Clio GT-Line derivatives have been axed from the French automaker’s local line-up, although we expect the GT-Line badge to return quite soon.

Also recently facelifted, the Toyota Corolla range no longer includes the Sprinter variant, while the petrol-powered Volkswagen Touareg V6 Elegance – which served as the entry-level model in the local range – has also been scrapped (leaving two V6 TDI variants and a flagship V8 TDI).

Did a search last week for a buddy. Auto picanto. Not sure spec. 200k. ****ing madness.
 
Yup the SA method, we aren't selling so yank up the prices. Not sure if I will ever be able to afford a "new" car again judging by the prices
 
And a colleague of mine just bought a brand new Q7 3.0 TDI with R180K worth of extras. This is her 2nd one. Previous one had 50K kms on. She felt a need for change.

Of course there are still people with money who can afford it. But the number of people who can, seems to be diminishing.

You can walk into a dealer and find just about any latest model nowadays, no waiting lists. The number of people who are reneging on their orders is increasing. Supply and Demand has definitely shifted to favour the buyer.
