The SABC posts a massive R622-million loss

Financial period ended March and we only see the results now.
The July 2018 figures should be available already

He said the migration from analogue to digital terrestrial television was necessary to sustain the broadcaster.
How does this help? Does SABC pay spectrum costs as well? Or is it because they can then move to cheaper infrastructure.

Where is the good old days? where people use to do their jobs and SOE used to make a profit?

Financial audits take time. My company's financial year end is 28 Feb. Our yearly audit only starts July and takes a month or 6 weeks. And we are very small.

Just explaining audits...not on SABC's side.

Don’t give them ideas, they might start to charge OOB on top of the license!

And I can only imagine SABC OOB billing:
- You don’t have a TV?
- I don’t since 1998.
- We’ll only charge you 12h of OOB per day then.

Congratulations with your improved results! Just keep on shifting your schedules around, rebroadcast ancient programs and most important of all stick to the old pal system - 576 pixels rule!

More local content make it 100% because you cannot afford other decent content.

The SABC should retrench its fee collecting department. Scrap the TV license. A complete waste of time and money.

Retrench, never!

It will join the ranks of Eskom and SAA aka South African Employment Agency.

That's not too bad considering how badly it's been run into the ground. Anyway, it's now time to consign the SABC to the history books... after the poor taxpayer has cleaned up it's mess.

Truecaller thankfully prevents me from willingly receiving or answering any calls or sms's for their licence fee collection.

So they stemmed the flow of gravy a little.

Now if they could just get the Uzalo viewers to pay their licenses:
SABC 1: Uzalo - number of viewers 9,186,516
That would amount to half their entire annual turnover. The rest can come from advertising.

It is unique viewers or can it be 5 people watching a TV meaning less than 2 million licenses?
