Shooting at Connecticut school. 27 dead including 18 children
In the US the companies that manufacture weapons are VERY powerful. They make or break presidents. They have very close links with the US military and Law Enforcement agencies. They sell guns to the population like Coca-Cola sells Coke. They have their large corporate clients (like the Military) and then they have their consumer clients (citizens). Anyone here thinking the US Government will stop citizens from owning gazillions of guns (incl. assault rifles) will be sad to know that any president that supports such legislation will be out of office before his term is over (dead or alive).
But, as I tried to say ... the real problems are not the guns. The real problems are tied to a society that is sick. In large it abandoned the values that made it a great nation in exchange for a morally bankrupt "Hollywood will show us how we shall live" mentality. It affects even my own kids that watches American TV and Movie productions. Even I, here in SA, has a battle as a parent to get my teenagers not to believe what they see ... to adopt the values presented as valid. Anyone blaming Hollywood here? Nope ... it must be the guns. The guns are always the problem.
Guns are weapons. Guns are stupid. They only do what the operator makes it do. Bad operator do bad things with gun. I can do far more damage on my PC if I was so inclined. Hacking can do far more damage than an assault rifle. Is a computer with super specs and large bandwidth evil?
The evil is US. Not US like in in United States, but US like in mankind. We f--k everything up. We collectively must take the blame when these shootings happen. We create the good soil for it. We allow Hollywood to tell our kids what is "normal". We allow legislation that creates environments where kids rule the teachers. We make ... and break ... our world. Not guns. Not computers. We.
