The Shroom Thread

Hi All,
I am trying microdosing for depression and anxiety because the regular meds dont seem to work.
I am on 100mg every three days but it feels like my anxiety is worse on the dosing days. Does anyone have any advice on dosage or why this is happening?
Are you talking any other medications that could be interfering ? SSRI's

Also suffer from depression. Mostly microdosing either did one of the following, nothing or a body load like legs were weird. Msuclrs clenching. Like a physical body anxiety. Sometimes I would feel spaced out mentally. I have yet to find much benefit. I also don't understand how a trip is pleasant to most people

Try upping the dose the 0.3g every 3 days
Thanks! I just don’t want to be spaced out. I asked my supplier yesterday and she told me they are golden teachers. Does it make a difference what kind they are

The type doesn't matter much. They all contain Psilocybin.

You wont be spaced out on 0.3g.

Where does one find the glass preserve jars to use in a PF Tek grow? Consol only seems to sell jars with a neck whereas you seem to need an open taper jar almost with a V shape to get the cake out. I've only managed to find the below type jar 250ml, would something like this work in a pressure cooker?

Try places like Plastics for Africa etc. & instead of consol try a regular tapered +- 250ml drinking glass. Most containers with screw-on caps the cake gets stuck, drinking glass it slides right out.

etc.

Not sure about pressure cooker, stovetop cook is usually sufficient for pf-tek.

The hunt continues. Thanks for the advice.

No, the jar you posted is fine, it will work. When they say neck, they mean a neck that is narrower than the body, which that isn't. Its wide enough.

My jars are something like 450ml, so larger than recommended, and also straight like that - no taper out. They work just fine.

I'm still working on my recipe for the contents of the jar, so I'd probably stick with the PF tek if I were you. I'm trying to find something different because I don't like vermiculite, as its not sustainable.

Paper kitchen towel works well as a barrier for the top of the far, to keep microorganisms out. That and foil of course.

Yes the Consol jars are unsuitable due to the neck is what I meant. I was just unsure about the pressure handling of the posted jar.
Will definitely stick to the PF Tek method first time round seems to be the most beginner friendly :)

In the image you posted, they don't seem to have a neck, but maybe its just me. As long as they are straight - they don't have to taper out.

I use rye grain for my grows, although I find it hit and miss. I don't get a lot of contamination, but sometimes nothing grows at all. As in, the jars don't get colonised. I'm thinking they are actually too dry.

One thing that will help you in this hobby is good temperature control. I guess its summer in SA now, so you should be fine. Keep them indoors and away from direct sunlight, otherwise they will cook. A thermometer is a handy way of working out what the temperature is - you don't want it too low or too high. I think 20 to 26 if I remember correctly but best to consult online guides.

The picture in the first post is what I found available and wondered if it's suitable seeing as online I only see them using canning jars like this ->

As for the temperature I'm hoping Cape Town's summer is hot enough as the only viable cost effective temperature control method I saw involved a fish tank heater in a double barrel tote setup.

Yeah that should be fine. The thing is, you don't use the lid anyway, or at least you don't have to. Buy 3-4 of those jars and see if they can survive pressure cooking - should be fine.

At the moment I use rye grain which I soak for 24 hours and then boil briefly. But I want to change my recipe up a bit, I actually think it is too dry. I'm going to order some brown rice and then mix brown rice and rye grain, see what happens.

Anyway, what I was going to say is that what you need to do is make your pf tek mixture, and put it in the jars. The pf tek mixture plus the vermiculite at the top should come right up to the rim of the jar. Then put two layers of foil on tightly. They don't need to be secured, just put them on tight. Pressure cook those jars.

I then remove one layer of foil and do the injection of spores. Before injecting into the first jar, and before moving to the next jar, I use a long lighter to heat up the tip of the needle until it glows. It cools quickly. inject 4 times, then put the second layer of foil back on, not as tight this time.

In a Cape Town summer you should be fine. Don't let them get above 30 degrees, although they should be fine below that.
