The snake finally bit me.

Many congratulations ! Not sure if you bought new from Backdraft or not, but the move things is the many options. After deciding on engine displacement you can still think about gearbox and diff Etc. Interesting debates about buying this type of car vs a pre-owned but modern car with more electronics and better brakes.

I wish you many safe miles ahead and can't wait for your picks. I have a few raffle tickets from the Cobra club, closest I will get to sitting in one!!

Its sad they never put the 427 up against the lambo. That is what the 427 was built for.

Spoke to some Die hards today and will know by Monday if I can get an original 427 or 428 Cobra-jet.

Very very nice... def something I will own in the future myself.

Engine finally arrived. I might have been a tad bit over-zealous with the engine size.
THAT THING IS HUGE! Ended up with the 460 Cubic. Now just need a sponsor with fuel...

Aha...7L muscle...damn! Congrats

460?! Damn. How big is that in Litres.

Also more pics needed

Will on Saturday when I get to clean her. 60 years of oil and dirt is a pain to get off. should be in the region of 7.5 liter. The 800NM is what scares me. even the altenator is bigger than a GTI's turbocharger.

Dude, you seriously need to post more pics regarding the build. Sounds like you still need to put it all together? Awesome stuff.

The car was assembled and running. Then It was stripped for spares and butchered. Trying to find everything to put Hupmty Dumpty back together is a PAIN!

Sourcing a 428 CID engine is near impossible. 427 is non existent and no one here can afford a side Oiler. I can buy 4 Ford 460 CID engines for the price of one 428 CJ high riser head. ( the 460 is a factory stroked 428 same block just lower compression and more emission controls)

Finding help or anyone actually willing to help is also near impossible. It took me 6 months just to get the specs on that engine, what was changed. and what is machinable. The 88 - 95 version of the 460 is nowhere near compatible with the 78 - 87 models. I can't have that machined in south Africa.

Even some of the V8 shops does not know or want to help, Its just too much for them . They want to sell something and make a quick buck.

The gearbox also can handle only 400Hp, A complete rebuild is needed for the 600HP I want.
engine needs to be de-smogged and allowed to breathe like the Amercans call it. That will make 600 - 700 HP with standard compression.

The block is good for 800HP if it is a two bolt main block. if it is a four bolt main I struck gold. Thats 1200Hp.

I don't only just buy and go in blind. I do a-lot of research and ask a-lot of questions. Unfortunately everyone hates Ford. The Cobra was a ford car. I don't want a Chev motor in there. I don't care that it is cheaper, Idles better, runs smoother with less misfires.
I will still kick any Chev Cobra down the street because no one will has big block Cobras lying around.

They aren't even taken on the track anymore. Only trailer ornaments now. mostly no one has the guts to punish a Big block Cobra on a circuit because the snake bites back. And this engine I have gives 4Km/l at highway cruising speed. I need to have a serious and long look at that consumption.

Left a 2lt coke on the air cleaner for scale. Took 4 guys this morning just to move that ship anchor. Will get clearer pics when I clean her.

Fiesta the only question is why do they have a Chev motor in a Ford car? The bottom pic is a Chev small block.
