How come, my friend in the UK can phone me on my cell phone at 0.05p a minute, but i have to pay close on R3 for the same service....EVEN THOUGH I AM IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Trust cell companys not at all, cause theyre pretty much stealing as much as possible from you as well. What scares me about all of this is they are getting away with this, and basicaly very few people seem to want to get of their ***** to do anything about it.

I suppose the bottom line is that most people in South Africa will continue to pay these prices as they are to lazy to do anything about it. Yep... keep taking it South Africa... seems you want it that way. Only way this will stop, is if all of you try make a difference. Not just a few on the side.

Just as always its telkom's fault...most of the cost here is from telkom's interconnect fee's charged to the sp's...

Not true. I know that MTN route their international calls via other carriers besides Telkom, even though they tell you your call is going via Telkom...

it's actually quite the opposite. cell providers pay telkom something like 30c per call for interconnection. Telkom pay cell operators R1.50 (not sure the figure) for interconnection. Somebody correct me on these values as i'm not too sure abt it.

at their worst telkom makes a 1500% mark up on mobile to fixed calls terminating on their network...mainly due to the different billing basis ([er minute / per second)
