The Starfield thread

I'm still using a lightly modified Star Eagle. Replaced most of the weapons with 5 or 6 Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors - just melts everything in sight.

Didn't mind just continuing with the ship, but now I can't complete Operation Starseed because Zelazny is out of jump range. So I need a better grav drive... which I can't upgrade without upgrading my reactor... which I can't upgrade without having higher piloting skill.

So will have to commit the next few skill points to that.

you will find, when extremely over encumbered (over 10k) in outpost: That accessing the build menu from top down has infinite loading wheel. Back out and build in ground view, till less encumbered.

I have an outpost that is solely a storage yard. All Large storage units. 12 of each. Gas, Liquids, solids, manufactured. Could teach a port authority a thing or 2 now. Getting prepped for my network.

Already have 3 clients in different systems: Argon, Aluminium, some ch6n gas needed. Until I found that this is in the game to be discovered I wondered about the expanded purposes of so many outposts / manufacturing/cargo links.

Edit: I am going to try and take a break and play Lies of P for a while before coming back to Starfield. It is my forever game after all.

Edit 2: : Anyone else also have their little Starfield notebook on the side, where you keep track of outposts, resources, planets/moons to go back to, places that kicked your ass to revisit etc. :p

I will post my ships later.

Got about 500K to spend now, so I'm going to build something tasty.

Has anyone found a way to skill up quicker than doing main missions?

And I'm not talking about the usual youtube things where you go to that planet and farm resources.

I am in this position where I only have some potato missions, activities, and what's left of the main story line to complete. But it would be nice to have skilled up a bit before finishing the main part of the game.

But hells bells, the grind to get skillpoints is such a buzz kill.

Personally Could care less about farming skills. In fact, I avoid the main quest line like the plague. More interested in exploring and doing sidequests.....

Will do the whole skill-up/main quest thing once I get bored or stop finding new things.

Yeah I only did enough of the main quest to get Andreja so still near the start.

The issue I have is that I spent my skills on crap like hacking and persuasion, but not a single one on starship design. So I can't buy the parts I want for my star eagle...

Also need to up my Starship Design, found out too late that is a must-have.

Apparently it's also the reason I cant steal some ships: Level check on entering also includes Starship design if you try and enter a ship with LvL 4 parts.

Other than that I am relatively ok. At level 45 and only found like 6 temples before I went all squirrel.

I found that space battles give the most xp quicker, and planet/moon discovery and scanning.

I am now seeing how great putting points into astronomy and scanning is paying off. finally. The ability to scan planets/moons without having to visit them individually is NEXT level.

My main quest is on the Hya step (UNITY). Has been for a week now :)

I think you are on the right track. Those 2 are imperative for a good playthrough. High rank Starship Design is a late game skill anyway. It's a right grind trying to rush it.

Thats what I've been doing, Scan, land, survey, do sidequests.... go sell data to Vlad.

When you say scanning, is it just the planet scanning or also landing and scanning every leaf and ant?

I'm focusing on the ship skill tree right now as I'm now getting my ass kicked in space battle. Still using the Razorleaf, not sure if that has anything to do with it

True, but you can't do the pirate smuggling missions without shielded cargo, which you can't get unless you have high starship design. And I don't want to use another ship.

So now it's holding me up from completing the Crimson Fleet questline, because those quests will be gone when I side with UC (I have reasons, mainly I can get more XP by killing pirates without racking up a bounty)...

Do the Freestar Rangers questline and get the Star Eagle. Much better stats and cargo capacity...

You can buy shielded cargo bays from skelm dealer at Red Mile. Personally haven't used them. I am a goodie 2 shoes.

Yeah standard Razorleaf loses usefulness very quickly. very smushy compared to most others.

On every lifeless, just scan minerals on others also scan till fauna/flora say biome complete. Lucky doesn't have to do everything and very simple, just run in "scanner view" and "mark" blue ones on route to the POI's

(Mantis) Razorleaf has shielded cargo.

Problem is the vendor doesn't offer you shielded cargo for the star eagle unless you put points into starship design. Which is where I'm stuck at now.

Yeah but it's cargo capacity and overall stats are crap compared to star eagle.

Already have 1000+ kg of cargo, so if I change my ship I won't be able to add more cargo to do the missions. And contraband in your personal inventory is always detected...

dont forget you can create outpost, build storage containers and store your hoard.

Piff, 1st world problems.... :D

Says the man running with 3600 cargo capacity.
