The Starfield thread

Finally switched to the main quest line over the weekend as I did not have much else to do
I totally understand now why loads of people said don't rush the main quest.

That final part where you "reflect" on your life could be seriously empty if you rushed the 1st play-through. Also makes it kinda of hard to decide if you wanna become Starborn. At least I have a save game just before entering so going into the light was a no brainer.

Planet exploration is not fun at all. Nothing I like about it and it was my biggest concern before I bought the game. All the planets feel totally lifeless and I hate that so many planets have the exact same flora and fauna and copy and paste buildings etc. Trees don't even move lol. It's a total fail in an otherwise great game.

Reminds me of Mass Effect 1's planet exploration.

Erm I think the game you looking for is over here

This is Skyrim/Fallout in Space. :P

Yeah don't bother with that, there's lots of other stuff to do. And when you run out of that, finish the campaign and do a NG+...

Yeah but it's part of the game lol. The worlds in Elder Scrolls and Fallout are amazing, interesting and a lot of fun to explore. Expected them to put a bit more effort into exploration in Starfield as well.

Never touched No Man's Sky. Are planets fun, interesting and unique with no duplicate plants and animals at all?

In No man sky, exploration is the key focus of the game.

Starfield's key focus is the story missions. Can play and "finish" the game without ever touching exploration or even Ship & Base building

That said I love the shipbuilder and my Wife absolutely loves the base build & decoration. Planet exploration was only done to find an ideal location to build, not to find stuff.

Hopefully they keep adding new content and improve on Startfield and once there is official modding support we should see more content added.

I do agree trees and plants are lifeless.

Planets are procedurally generated so once you play long enough you see the patterns and they become a bit the same. I love the game but would probably be done with it by now if they didn't keep releasing updates. Also fun playing multiplayer. They often have specials when they release a new update (every 3 months or so) or try it on Game Pass.

Don't ever play NMS multiplayer with this one. They have so many resources and whatnot, they make you feel like Oliver Twist begging for scraps.

Just because you aren't good at gathering resources and want to take on missions totally unprepared ;)

and then you died, several times. So not YOLO as it turns out
Technically, each life is it's own thing! You only live once until the next time!

I should change my name to Leeroy Jenkins. You can be Scrooge McDuck. Mansa Musa.

Stop giving me names to google  The Leeroy Jenkins one was funny. I'll take this as a compliment "Musa is known for his wealth and generosity. He has been subject to popular claims that he is the wealthiest person in history,[5] but the extent of his actual wealth is not known with any certainty."

You did give me a lot of resources, I remember that. In return you got my gung-ho attitude. Fair trade I'm sure.

I'm finally making some progress in Starfield! Can't be bothered with ship building so bought the Narwhal. Getting into the Ranger quests which are cool, bit of main questing and then occasionally distracted by something shiny on the way to something that seems important. Now level 36.

I really enjoyed the Ranger questline. That and the Crimson Fleet are probably my favourite.

Oooh and got new guns to play with, testing them out and adding some mods. Can't remember what they are called but one had both physical and laser damage but only a mag of 6. Need to look into research to try improve that, was used to the 50 magazine on my grendel.
