The Starfield thread

Yeah it sounds like it is a great game, reviewers are bleh because they wanted a 1000 planets filled to the brink with content. I will never ever have the time to explore that much and will probably stick to playing through the main game and a few side quests.

What are the thoughts of those who started playing?

Very early game for me so it’s tough to really give a judgement. Game plays beautifully for me and looks great. No bugs yet.

Some silly things, like no hot key for switching weapons. But that might be because it’s extremely early game or something like that. Voice acting is good, animations are generally good, visually it’s lovely.

I played for four hours this morning. After the intro I arrived on the first planet and was scavenging for around three hours. Everything feels somewhat overwhelming at this point, but I anticipate improvement over time.

The graphics are ok, basically in line with Bethesda's typical style. The game's performance is smooth on my end. Running at 4K resolution, I experience frame rates ranging between 60 to 90 with FSR enabled. The settings are a mix between Ultra and High. Haven't encountered any bugs yet.

As for aspects I'm not fond of thus far, space flight feels clunky, and I've been unable to fly on planets. Absence of the FOV setting, which I hope will be introduced soon.

Overall I like the game.

What's the fauna and flora look like on different planets? Is it mostly unique on every planet or do they all look the same? Would kinda suck finding the same creatures or plantlife etc on every other planet or so but then again not totally unexpected.

Played from 2h15 to 5am.
Chose "long hauler" as background.

You know it's a Bethesda RPG when you reach your first area (crimson pirate base) with overwhelming amount of stuff/loot/trash? to pickup each with a value connected to it... What to pick and and what to ignore?! Decisions decisions...
Like... Tissues...hmmm...shall this lonely space explorer grab the box of tissues? Tempting!!

Not a trainsmash but I see you don't do an actual landing sequence but you arrive at planet -> scanned -> then click on planet to be landed.

Played for a bit this morning. It runs well on the side on my asus 4080 laptop maxed out with fsr at 75%.

No noticeable stutters or frame drops. It feels like Skyrim in space in all honesty, so I'm happy. I can see myself sinking many hours into this.

One of the lockers in a bunk area I opened had a box of tissues and hand cream
