The Starfield thread

Please don't take any performance-related comments from @rambo919 seriously. The dude is a committed luddite and refuses to upgrade his ancient PC, extolling the virtues of 4GB of VRAM.
You say the game gets better after the first 2 hours or so?
Wanne get a SSD, but don't want to buy and be disappointed twice

Does this not make me an expert on running all things in 4GB of VRAM then? Considering you clearly are too intelligent to have such a cheap rig so you must be ignorant of what it can still do.

Look, that's the opinion of others who started out feeling the same as you - just Tweets I came across. I have enjoyed it from the beginning, so it's hard to say really, but I think it's worth sticking out.

On the SSD-front, it's a worthy upgrade in general, so even if you don't enjoy Starfield, it will be of benefit to everything going forward.

BTW I find it hilarious for being called a Luddite for saying a certain game needs an SSD

Just a few hours in and having fun - playing on Normal with no issues - getting used to aiming with controller (the iron sights/zoom mode is a bit meh - I would have preferred a scope or laser dot but maybe that will come later).

Edit: got to say that the 'instant on' nature of the XBox is an absolute fukin pleasure - I can dip in and out without interminable load times.

I'm such a bastard - I persuaded that Crimson Leader to leave me alone and then promptly shot him in the back

Dropped me some nice loot too - this legendary sidearm

Not everything, SSD's are more prone to bit flip's than HD's

Longativity HD is a better option than SSD.
If you want speed SSD helps.

Just saying there is still a place for HD's

BTW I remember watching this

No difference in framerates it seems but the loading takes forever on an HDD
That's a huge difference . That stuttering is what I can't deal with and what is happening.

Frame rates might not drop, but it actually does because it freezes all the time while loading data.

There is just no instance in 2023 where you should be installing modern (resource intensive) games on spinning rust. If you have limited space on your SSD then take a bit of time before you start and move things off it that you don't currently need.
Also direct storage will become a thing more and more and is already part as a feature for console development.

I may be wrong but I don't think so. It is on Series S/X but it will be very impressive if it's on One S. Maybe just do a google.
Idk I get this kind of info

To play Starfield on Xbox One, you’re going to have to pay for a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate — this will give you access to Xbox Cloud Gaming and allow you to stream Starfield even though your older console wouldn’t be able to handle it.
