The Starfield thread

Ladies can do construction, especially when technology is advanced to the point that we're not carrying heavy stuff around, which could be a limitation.

i knew a chick once who really knew how to use a jackhammer.
Yeah but ONLY female construction workers? As in no men at all. Zero, zilch, nada, nil. At least that's how it is in my game so far.

I haven't checked it so I'm not sure to be honest. Ah, it's not a thing I'm concerned about though I can see it is a bit weird.

That's nothing compared to Vladimir the Russian black guy...
I already mentioned that earlier as well lol.

But then again if black Brits/Americans etc can have Brit/American names and accents then why can't there be a black Russian... We've just never seen a black Russian in real life I guess.

That plus there are no nationalities in Starfield really because Earth has been destroyed for hundreds(?) of years. (don't actually know how long humans have been in space)

In New Atlantis there is a white oke (and the game has very little of them) with .... a hectic Indian accent. Lol.

I watched a video about a character with a bad Irish accent and realised I didn't know anyone had an accent because I have subtitles on and am playing my music loudly. I can't handle hearing the repetitive chit chat from merchants/vendors when I've got stuff to do. Friends told me I'm weird for only having my music playing

Yeah found a couple like that. Found a white woman somewhere with one of those heavy African accents as well. Or at least I think she's white. Hard to tell sometimes in this game.

Also, Asian characters don't look Asian to me at all. Like the UCSEC one AlphaJohn posted above who's supposed to be of Korean or Chinese heritage, can't remember. But all Asian characters look like they're white or hispanic.

So proud of myself! Finally figured out how to place bottles and books etc upright while decorating my home! Tried every key and even accidentally threw a grenade or two next to Barrett inside my new Neon penthouse which sent all items flying all over the place. But now I can finally rotate stuff vertically.

And now I see it was all for nothing

Returned to my Neon penthouse only to find out about the sinking bug. Every small item I placed was stuck halfway into the table/counter/shelf it was placed on. Not cool bethesda, not cool.

At least now I know I shouldn't bother with decorations lmao. Will just live in empty homes and ships.

I didn't even attempt item placement. Tried a few times in Skyrim and I don't think I will ever trust that it will work in a Bethesda game  Things fall on the floor, I walk around them until eventually on a reload they end up hopefully back where they were. Sorry you wasted your time though. I was annoyed when I built a fridge and couldn't store food in it.

I only build ships and lucky they come fully stocked but I still get very frustrated with door placements and it takes me ages and many attempts to get a proper flow inside. I hate double-floor ladders and also hate loops.

Example: My current ship has 3 floors but only 1 floor ladder for each join:

Habs in Yellow
Red: Ladder location for Base -> Mid
Green: Ladder location for Mid -> Top

Took easy 3 hours to get the right internal look and flow. I do enjoy designing my own ship just wished there was a manual way of placing ladders/doors.

One option you have, if you want a bigger ship, is using the tunnels to join habs. That way you get to choose exactly where you have a doorway. Can even have both doorways open on a hab (well, 6 total theoretically), one on each "doorway". It makes for interesting design options but does make the ship bigger.
