The Super PSP Thread

I saw earlier in this thread someone changed their XMB to look like the XBOX 360 XMB. I think it was Kev. Anyway, this plagued me, as I sooooo wanted to do it as well, and lo and behold today I finally did it.

It doesn't use the PTF files, those just change the icons and background in your current XMB, which is fine for some people. These other XMB themes are ones which you copy to your Flash 0, replacing most of the files in there. It makes for quite a dramatic change as to how the XMB looks and also how it feels. I am currently running Organ and it is super sleek and sexy.

If you want to check out all the available ones, you can browse them here.

Have fun!

MR SLICK. this XMB thing has been chowing my brain for weeks! is the an "idiots guide to XMB". if so, please share!

thanx in advance

ps i've downloaded organ xmb too, but dont have the faintest idea what to do with it

Ok, I'm writing up a tut now.

Totally customise your XMB without a PTF file.

Dear MR Killa... :)

For this to work, you will hopefully have 3.52/3.71 M33 on your PSP. First off, what you need to do is make a backup of your Flash0 Folder. So turn off your PSP entirely. Then turn it back on holding down the R shoulder button. Go into Advanced and select "Toggle USB (flash0)" with the USB plugged into your PSP as well as the PC. The Flash0 will now open on your PC. Make sure you can view all files and folders by turning it on in XP/Vista. Then select all the folders in the Flash0 and copy it into a folder on your PC. This will be your backup of the Flash0 in case something goes wrong.

Now select Toggle USB (flash0) again to disable the USB connection and then exit recovery mode to boot into the PSP XMB. You will now need to download some homebrew that will make space in your Flash0 in order to copy all the files in the Organ XMB replacement. This is because some of the files used in Organ is bigger than the original PSP XMB files. Go here to download Flash Agent D4. Move it to the needed folder on your PSP and use it to make the space in your Flash0. This homebrew app and most others like it still use the 1.50 kernel to run, so if you have 3.71 M33, you will need to install the kernel add on for it, and then tell your PSP to use it from recovery mode. You will find that setting under "Configuration" and then toggle "Game folder homebrew".

Now, the Organ XMB is easy to transplant *pun intended*. Turn your PSP off entirely again and then turn it back on holding down the R shoulder button to boot into recovery mode.

Once in Recovery Mode, go to Advanced, and then select Toggle USB (flash0) with the USB cable plugged in.

Now extract the contents from the Organ archive. Once in the folders you will be presented with the font; module; and resource folders.

Copy the files in the font folder to the font folder which is in the Flash0 folder of your PSP. Then copy the files in the module folder into the Module folder on the PSP. I think that is located in vsh\module. The stuff in the resource folder must be copied to vsh\resource in your PSP's flash0.

After all the files have been replaced, Toggle USB (flash0) again to disable the connection and exit Recovery mode. You will now have the Organ XMB. You can later get a custom 01-12.bmp to make it look even better as well as a different wave.

Hope this helps.

And for all those other guys and gals who play with their PSP's in this way, if you do manage to brick it you can send it my way and I will Pandora it for you free of charge. You will just have to pay for the two way postage. Only PSP's with a corrupt Flash0 or Flah1 can be recovered. If the nand of the PSP is gone, then not even Pandora will unbrick it. Though it is worth a try, and I doubt anyone here would be able to break their nand. For those who have purchased new PSP's, I will install the Custom Firmware 3.71 M33-2 on it for you at no charge. Again you will just have to sort out the postage from where ever you are to PE and then back.

What code is going around dablak? I can't find any mention of it on psp-hacks or psp-vault.

How to manually make 2.20MB of space in your Flash0

Taken from the Noobz forum. See here. <-- Contains images to help you.

And for those without international bandwidth:

In this guide im going to show you how to get atleast 2.20 mb of extra space on your flash0 folder to custumize your psp.

Do the following only if you have a backup of the files inside the flash0 folder enter your recovery menu and toggle flash0.

Now connect your psp to the pc via a usb wire and a removable disk should open which looks something like this
then open the font folder there delete gb3s1518.bwfon and jpn0.pgf(which are the japanese and korean font)then take the ltn0.pgf and make two copies of it some where and rename it as gb3s1518.bwfon and jpn0.pgf and paste it back to the font folder, now you have replaced the gb3s1518.bwfon and jpn0.pgf with a clone!

If you want to free more space then do the following first get into the vsh folder then into the nodule and resource folders.

(Delete the following only if you do not require them)

Note:- if you want to remove any one of the functions remove both the .rco and the .prx file

resource folder nodule folder function

camera_plugin.rco camera_plugin.prx (this is the file that allows you to use the camera)

rss_subscriber.rco rss_subscriber.prx (allows you to enable rss feeds on your psp)

update_plugin.rco update_plugin.prx (allows you to use network update)

visualizer_plugin.rco visualizer_plugin.prx (allows you to use visualizations during a song)

Have fun and remember to always make a backup of your flash0 folder from time to time!!

Written by sanjay1 from the Noobz forum. Remember, you do this at your own risk. Always backup your Flash0 before attempting anything in it.

the frensh site noobz are talking in there forum about A tracking cookie/unsigned code, maybe sony made.

Do you perhaps have a link for me? My keywords aren't helping me in my search :/ and I'm wasting lots of data.

You cannot enter the site,Its a private forum. But dont worry it was only talk and nothing is really proven yet from what i have read.Besides a tracking cookie is not really that bad,or is it

Nope it's not hey. Nothing to do with the PSP, only web browsers. Maybe the PSP web browser, and I doubt that they could detect what firmware you are using via the built in browser.. it's just not that functional :)

Bump vol. 1337 ...feat the track hit "I finally got my PSP" by DarkWater..

but..errr....is this the "Super PSP thread" or the "Hack your PSP thread"?

Just wanna know before I start contributing :)

lol, this is anything to do with your PSP... except pirating. Homebrew, downgrading, hacking etc.

Control Winamp from your PSP.

In my quest for even more usefull things to do with my PSP, I have stumbled onto something wich is rather quite legend. This is a plugin for Winamp that will let you control it from your PSP. You will need a wireless router.

It has the normal controls to play, stop, pause, controll volume, skip tracks, and it lets you view your current playlist. You can also browse files to play from the directory where you specify. It also has an area where you can add users and give the users the rights to do as you see fit.

You can download it here. You don't need a Custom Firmware PSP. This will work with any PSP that has the web browser.

Install it, launch Winamp, go to your Options -> Preferences and under "General purpose plugins" you can select it, and set up the users etc. Then just point your PSP Browser to your PC's IP address for example 192.168.5.5:80 and it will open the page with the controlls on.

Have fun!
