The Super PSP Thread

No it was on this site in a few of the other PSP threads.

I am too scared to change my XMB, because I do not know how to get it back to normal if I flash to a better custom firmware.

I connected up the bricjed psp to the computer to read its motherboard. Dablackmark8, its not worth my while to sell it to you, I earn more than that in a half hour...not meant as an insult, just that I'd rather then keep the spares for my psp and see what I can learn by opening the psp, which I have already done.

You cannot re-flash the psp unless you have the original eboot file from Sony. Only sony has access to this. I am not sure if the offical repair agents have this as even they do not fix bricked psp's. They just exchange them.

If someone can get their hands on the required eboot, I have access to the motherboard reader. A friend of mine is doing electronic engineering and can get to this on campus.

The U.P. (Undiluted Platinum) is a flash replacement system for the PSP™ which allows the use of previous flash updates or custom firmware builds, opening up the possibility to run unsigned homebrew code on even the latest PSP systems. The U.P. contains 32MB NAND flash which is programmable from the PC via a high speed USB connection, using our user friendly software. You may boot the PSP from either its onboard flash or the flash contained on the U.P; the flash which is used is determined by a button press as the PSP is powered on (U.P. flash is used by default, hold L1 to use the PSP onboard flash). Since U.P. provides a secondary flash which the PSP can boot from, it can even be used to restore a PSP which has been "bricked". Every effort has been made to make our flash updater software, which will be freely available for download, both as easy to use and reliable as possible. The software also contains diagnostics which can be used by installers to determine if an installation has been successful or not.

Doesnt this mean the original flash chip can be restores?

From my understanding of the Undiluted platinum chip, it offers a secondary flash to boot the psp... I do not think it uses any part of the original flash. Therefore, yes it can unbrick your psp because it is using a pre-installed new flash. I have a feeling that someone with 'contacts' at Sony may have got hold of the original eboot file and has programmed it into the chip with a few modifications. Only a thought as I am unsure how the chip actually functions.

The eboot that I require to reprogram the psp flash is not the original 1.5.
The firmware upgrade are just updates to the flash, not the full version of the psp flash. The full version, only Sony should have that. Does any1 know of some qualified electronic engineers, I think we could benefit quite greatly if they were willing to offer some advice regarding programming and reflashing of motherboards.

I am your man...but i dont know where to get the software to run the motherboard bios, and to reinstall the original prx files and registrys. This will never be given by any person as they know how much money they will make.Only sony japan,uk and usa have these things,
Man i am really dissapointed that you opened it up,and that you are keeping it,I needed da battery.
So whats up with the ......."I earn more than that in a half hour...not meant as an insult"..
So why are you telling me this,i dont get it..
please do tell me why...btw i also earn more than that..there is no relevants.

OK, I downgraded my friends PSP to 1.5 from 2.00 (thanks again dablakmark8).
Then upgraded to 3.03OE-C :) was good fun.

Ok, but I have a question now.

Where can I find roms for emulators like the DNES emulator? I want like, Sonic, Earth Worm Jim etc.

I see that there are quite a few viewers of this thread, yet there is only a handfull of vocal PSP owners. It would be interesting to know how many peoples on this forum owns a PSP seeing as it seems more popular than the Nintendo DS (lite) :D

I downgraded to 1.5 last year and was using DevHOOK until yesterday, I downloaded and installed 3.10-OE :) So much easier now!

kevin try this and see what your psp does.
put a mp3 in your music folder and go to the xmb and play it now press O or triangle....tell me what happens.

I heard that when you use that space saving trick with the flash0 and you play Dungeoun Siege - Throne of Agony, that you may have some problems with the ingame fonts.

Have anyone else that have used the flash0 space saving thingy noticed anything odd in games or in normal operation? I have been staying away from it because of these rumours.

BTW EchoZA, 3.03OE-C > 3.10OE :D
