The Syrian Conflict Thread

Are you completely thick? They are once again quoting the UK guy in his bedsit for the airstrike.

Are you thick. You are spreading your PropaGanda from your bedsit so what is the difference? At least he confirms his "propaganda" with evidence. He did not create the videos he just published them.

It's about being misled.

It's very clear the video he posted is not what it purports to be.

And that so-called group of Syrians is an expat living in the UK and working from his bedsit.

i'm not denying that at all.
what i am questions is your initially crying foul at him quoting known sources of propaganda, yet you have never complained when sputnik has been used as a source by snotdoggydog

Give some examples.
If a news agency quotes the Russian parliament then where's the problem. If News24 is quoting a disreputable source (faker of pictures) then they need to be taken to task.

awesome seems someone's not happy with the truth, keep it coming grantza (see how I spelt your name correctly) BTW I give you my permission to use "snoop" so now you may

Al Nusra is Al Qaeda, the Russians should bomb both them and ISIS, i think the west has a problem with Russia bombing the likes of FSA.

Sigh!

The activist group said civilians were amongst the casualties caused by the strikes but did not know exactly how many of the dead were non-combatants.

Rami Abdel Rahman, the director of the group, said dozens of people had also been wounded and that the number of dead could go up as those with serious injuries succumbed to their wounds.

He said those killed included rebel fighter and their families, and identified a rebel commander who died as chief of staff of the First Coastal Division group, a faction fighting under the banner of the "Free Syrian Army".

Three Syrian hospitals bombed since Russian airstrikes began, doctors say

At least three hospitals have been bombed by fighter jets in north-western Syria since Russia’s intervention in the war began in late September, doctors and international observers claim.

The latest attack, on Tuesday, killed at least 12 people at Sarmin hospital in Idlib province. At least three of the victims were believed to be medical staff. Survivors and witnesses said the hospital was hit by two airstrikes at about 1pm.

Dr Mohamed Tennari, director of Sarmin hospital, said the facility appeared to have been directly targeted and could no longer serve patients on one of the fiercest frontlines in the war.

He said the hospital had been the target of at least 10 other airstrikes earlier in the conflict. Throughout the war, international medical organisations have repeatedly claimed that medical facilities in opposition areas have been systematically targeted.

Physicians for Human Rights said it had documented 307 attacks on medical facilities and the deaths of 670 medical personnel in Syria since protests against the regime of Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011 until the end of August 2015. “Syrian government forces have been responsible for more than 90% of these attacks,” the organisation said. “Each of which constitutes a war crime.”

Round about two weeks ago me and Xarog were discussing whether we will see russian ground troops taking part in ground offensive/combat, and well, he was right, to day nothing is known about any regular regiment taking part, and I was wrong, although I'm happy that I was wrong.
Edit: I guess private "security" companies don't count

Besides the air campaign they are involved in logistics, battle tactics and artillery. The heavy lifting is being done by the SAA and Iranians. They might have some unofficial troops (volunteer type guys) near the front line, there were reports from a high ranking Syrian official that a few of them died recently. They are also providing the Syrians with tanks and artillery systems like the buratino. That seems to be the extent of their involvement at this stage.

No "regular" russian troops took part in the Ukraine offensive either. They were all on "leave" acting in private capacity (with russian armoured vehicles) remember. Same story in Crimea.

So bombing hospitals are fine then? How do you justify it? On what basis...because it's Russia?
No, I'm just pointing out that your criticism of such things is very one-sided. That's not at all the same as justifying it.

And given that the civilian to militant casualties are more or less even, that is honestly the best civilian to militant casualty ratio I've ever seen in this kind of conflict. In other words, I think other countries could learn to do it more like the Russians if this is the kind of results they get.

Not to mention the hospital claims in the first place are dubious. It would be nice if the claims could be corroborated by someone other than American shills.
