I don't see in that article where they say they have ceased operations all together, only a scale back.

They scaled back what was already scaled back. So no change there. The US wasn't doing anything is the accusation.

ORRRRRR the Yanks just don't wanna bomb the terrorists before they've taken out Assad, and all of the fear-mongering regarding ISIS was just a smoke-screen for regime change yet again.

In that regard, the weather makes for a convenient excuse.

Some article Snoopdoggydog posted, all it said was America has had a reduced number of strikes recently. They attributed it to the weather and the enemy adapting their battle tactics.

Right, but that can just as easily be PR-speak for the previous assertion (not wanting to get rid of the guys they hope will get rid of Assad until Assad is gone). In other words, The_Assimilator is assuming a very unreasonable argument from snoopdoggydog where a more plausible alternative exists.

I've just given you more plausible alternatives. If they wanted to reduce airstrikes they could just do so and fake the numbers, its easy. The majority of airstikes from the US are in Iraq anyway so your theory about Assad doesn't add up. The Russians will run into the same problems when their planes have been running no stop for months in dusty conditions and their enemies adapt as well :)

All of which has nothing to do with my telling T_A that his post is immature.

Considering that the United States has been saying the whole time that there's no place for Assad etc., I think it's safe to say that their strategic goals include him being gone. And there's more than enough circumstancial evidence to show that the U.S. is onboard with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to get rid of Assad so they can get gas/oil to Europe via Syria which Assad refuses to agree to because he'd rather deal with Iran and Russia.

So while I don't dispute that the reduction due to weather is a reasonable explanation, that in no way invalidates the argument that the United States has been following a containment policy with regards to ISIS until after Assad is neutralised.

Absolutely, i don't disagree with any of that and i wasn't trying to invalidate that argument as a whole, only invalidate it in this particular instance.

I think its undeniable that the US wants Assad gone and they are willing to use a number of policies to achieve that.
